Eureka! It's Blenko!

Thanks for your faith in my blogging skills Hillary. Here's a feeble first try.

I'm sure almost everyone already knows the wonderful story of how William Blenko first named his glass company Eureka Art Glass Company in honor of his ruby formula discovery. He eventually renamed the company Blenko Glass Company in the mid-1920s. One of the rarest non-Blenko items a Blenko collector would love to find is a Eureka Art Glass Company label. By the way, notice the first Blenko label resembles the Eureka label. Of course the label was eventually redesigned to look like a hand. The Eureka label will most likely be found on a piece of stained glass.

I'll be blogging from the Blenko Collectors Society convention in Milton, WV starting on the weekend of August 10, 2007. Hope to see you all there.

Tell me how Eurkea was choosen.
    Also do people collect these
    labels do they have value?
    More ads?
Hillary is cute, sazy, and won't give me the time of day. Perhaps I'll have better luck at the convention.
Will people be selling Ads? Vintage Blenko?

  6. Thank you all for your kind comments. Solomon, when William J. Blenko discovered his formula for ruby glass, he said Eureka! and yes some ads are quite valuable. I'm not sure there will be any ads at the glass show, but you never know. There will be lots of great vintage Blenko at the convention on Saturday.

I ask the BCS member and was told:The majority of the collectors are staying at the Comfort Inn by the mall in Barboursville. Tell him to check quickly, my understanding is that the rooms are going fast.
barboursville is about 20 minutes from Milton - and very close to Huntington...(larger towns)
There is a motel in HURRICANE, WV which is 5 miles from Milton also
    dont know the name.
hope this helps. othet ?s email.
