BLENKO Glasses

Blenko glasses always add a flare and certainly a conversation about Blenko. This photo was sent in by Billy from DIXIE's of Texas .Dixies has them. Contact at ebay@dixiesonline.com .

You might also drive down to Milton, WVa. and shop the Visitors Center for these and

other Glasses or check out the BLENKO GLASS web site for other glasses www.blenkoglass.com .

At our home we use BLENKO Glass daily, our glasses are more than 20 years old. Blenko is very well made, you will not be seeking replacements any time soon.

  1. How do you clean your Blenko glasses
I do not use mine and they get
a greasy like material in the bottom so each year I must try to get this out.
    What is and isn't safe?

I own Mom washed all BLENKO by hand and drys. In my little Morgantown home - I stick everything in the dishwasher - I don't use the dry cycle - I have never experienced the 'greasy" build up you are speaking of - as I use everything. I did check the BLENKO COLLECTORS WEBSITE and found the following information. I am also adding the link - as you might want to join and go back for more information.

With so much information available online, cleaning Blenko Glass can be a complex and confusing issue.
Other than mild household glass cleaners, we do not advocate one method over any other for cleaning Blenko Glass due to liability issues. We strongly urge collectors NOT to clean their Blenko Glass with any strong acids, denture cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners or other chemicals. Many Blenko pieces that were moderately dirty have been ruined by improper cleaning.

While any cleaning method has certain risks associated with it, Blenko is a soft glass and we only recommend professional glass cleaning. Contact your professional glass cleaner about benefits and risks associated with their specific procedures. When contacting a professional cleaner DO let them know that it is Blenko and much softer than other glass.

Remember, even if you do have a professional do the job, there is always a risk of further damage.
