Focus on... 968

Focus on... 968
Blenko Chianti style pitcher
decanter Blenko design #968 in
Amethyst by Winslow
Anderson. This piece is an
exciting and modern design by
Anderson. It was so unusual
that a guide book described
the piece as an experimental
design. An interesting feature
of pitcher/decanter is the
elongated spout. It is an
elegant design that was well
suited for its original purpose,
but can actually be viewed as
a work of art.

  2. The narrow-necked Blenko vessels are stunning; however, someone needs to invent a device to clean down in them! Bayliss has designed one for the 2008 collection that is very attratctive-- long, skinny, and inspired by guitar frets!

  7. Margie: Long, skinny necked vases are the main glass I collect. Sometimes I purchase them in pristine condition; other times, the vases get "rescued" from a swap meet or yard sale and have rust spots or have build up from hard water, etc. I'm sure I can find some kind of bottle brush but my tallest vase is probably over 3' tall. I have one that must be only about 1" in diameter.

What kind of glass do you collect?

I'm hoping next time I get to the Blenko Visitor Center they will have some tall skinny vases! The taller and the skinnier, the BETTER!
