Identify This Glass!

Heart of Glass friend WVJanis needs your help!

Does anyone know if this 17" piece is BLENKO? Color and pontil on bottom make me think so; however, would like to know for sure. (Christy)?WV Janis

Please either respond with comment or email theblenkoproject@aol.com

My husband did his advance degree in Morgantown, we both did undergrad at Marshall.
We were given glass often as gifts by his patients and friends, but we also bought a good bit.

  2. This is either such a Gorgeous color and design OR such a gorgeous morning (I hope it is) to take a great picture. Kudos to the photographer.

What is this design called? I like the color and design and like to know the cost of this one.

  3. Yes it is Blenko! The lovely pitcher you have is a #579 in Tangerine. Designed by Husted and manuifactured 1957-59. I have the same in various colors as well. Enjoy Debdodahday

  5. Sol: Are you sure it is the same pitcher? If you drink O.J. from this vase, you must have a BIG family or be having a BIG party. At 17" tall, mine would take two jugs of tropicana oj to fill it! And I can't imagine pouring from it.

anonymous: Thank you for the information. I don't own many designs by Husted.

phani: I took about 200 pictures yesterday. The day was a BEAUTIFUL fall feast for the eyes. BLENKO glass can be hard to photograph with its odd shapes and dimensions. I try to find items that add to the texture of the picture without detracting from the glass. Then you have to wait for the light to be just right. Flash photography kills the color. If I ever start a blog, I'll share more examples. For now, I rely on the kindness of Hillary to provide an outlet for my love of photograhping WV glass.

Pilgrim and Viking both did copies of this pitcher. Check the websites your item maybe Viking .
    Is it molded?
If so then its Viking, otherwise Pilgrim

  9. Good job Janis. I agree with the flash inthe picture. I usually turn it off if I can get it with a lower shutterspeed. More exposure, more light!!

  12. Nice color. Does not look like something that I would drink from. Almost the same color as the Halloween pumkins. Roxie
