I am going to be sending several photos this evening. Here in Vashti with the temperatures coasting along in the hundred plus range I am trying to avoid the mid day heat which gives me the right lighting to shoot a few shots of the collection. Hopefully these will give you some filler over the next several weeks. First up is a couple of my favorite Myers designed decanters in Peacock. On the left is the ships decanter Blenko #6629 (12 5/8") with it's counter-designed Blenko #6615L (14"). The shape reminds me of the old ink blotters used on the early printing presses.

Hi I know you donated your Blenko birthday collection to WVU is that on display for the public to view?
ReplyDeleteAfter much effort, I got to see the BLENKO Birthday collection a few years ago at the President's Home at WVU. It looked lovely displayed throughout the "public" end of the residence.
ReplyDeleteI think it will get a new home somewhere else. May be there by now. It is fabulous to see the pieces all in one place at one time.
In my long hiatus from the BLENKO blog, I return to see that Bruce is still diligently submitting photos-- stunning, book-quality photos. I have to smile because MOUNTAIN RITA CONTINUES TO SHOUT WITH HER FINGERS. Some "anonymouses" remain angry. Some post a wealth of information.
