Nickerson

Blenko. Blenko. Blenko. Blenko. Blenko Glass. Blenko. Blenko. Blenko.
Hilary

Do you know if Nickerson did anything 'special' while at Blenko? I have 3 after Blenko
art glass sculptures and would like to purchase something made at Blenko.
What is your suggestion?
Also does he work in glass currently? If so can you provide me with an address?
George Spano

George,
I'm posting a photo of my art glass vase made by Nickerson while he was at Blenko.
Nickerson didn't have the freedom past designers were given, Blenko was faltering
by the time he arrived. His Blenko designs were made to be simple and mass produced.
After Blenko - Nickerson's abilities are apparent in his award winning glass sculptures and glass art pieces. His perfume bottles ( each taking over 34 hours to complete) are works of
art. It is rare for a piece of Nickerson ( after Blenko) to be available on EBAY.
I would suggest making direct contact with Nickerson and / or your local vintage glass vendor.
Google, John Nickerson Glass.

    Sometimes I think you
    are too busy, know nothing
    and lack interest.
Other days like today, I am aware you know a lot, and have passion for glass.
I don't yet know why you bother with this blog and put up with our crap.
I apologize for my past negative comments.
Nickerson is one of my favorite
designers also, met him in Milton.
We loved he and his wife Jane.
Much nicer and more down to earth and interested in the enviroment than others.

  8. I'm a long time blenko addict .
Nickerson was like Shepard an outdoors person, a real man.
His glass designs reflect his personality
    no nonsense, practical
    and honest.
Blenko should be so lucky as to have again someone with Nickerson's talent.

I enjoyed the BCS very much.. Met some great people and also had lots of fun. I still love Blenko glass but so much has changed in my life. If someone starts another club I will join and help as much as possible. But I am unable to start one.

I am glad I stopped in here a few days ago. I am also happy to see Hillary is still encouraging people to buy new Blenko along with the vintage. I always said the new will be vintage one day :)

Mountain Rita, Hillary has my email address and I will let her know she can share with you if you would like it.

I shall answer for Glassdoc - since she may no longer read comments.
It is an addiction. Addictions are difficult to break.
Tammy Kosla who also left comment was addicted.
Blenko is an easy to acquire addiction.
If you don't yet have, then walk away quickly.

  14. Husted has a great outgoing personality
    He promotes himself very well.
    John is understated
    and doesn't like publicity.
John's designs after Blenko are superior to most any other Blenko designer.
