Readers Can we help this reader identify the color of her Blenko? hjh
Do you think this could be Mulberry? I looked in their
catalogs for 1958 and 1959 and only saw Mulberry for
1958. I have only seen this design, #5825 small, in these
two years but have not looked at all the catalogs. Doesn’t
the sand-blasted mark date this to between 1958-1960?
From what I can tell in the photograph, this does look like it is 5825, the Twist Decanter. Small one is about 19 1/2 inches Large one is about 23. They should have stoppers as well. I see them in the catalogs in 1958, 1959 and 1960. The purple colors for those years were Mulberry(58), Lilac(59 and 60)) Etching was done in all three years so that will not help determine the color. Lilac was usually a lighter shade but not always.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does appear to be the mulberry color for Blenko from 1958. I just recently purchased a stopper for this same piece in my collection and as in your picture it had both the purple and deeper coloration in the initial photos of the stopper . Is this piece available for purchase since I would be interested in adding this to my collection. Is it the small or large version of the #5825?

ReplyDeleteIf you would put up older catalogs
it would be helpful to those with Blenko seeking ID.
We used the 80-2000 last evening. Nice.
I do not collect glass made after 1980, and most serious collectors follow this rule.
Why not post 60 to 80 catalogs on your www.blenkoproject.org ??
This would be most helpful.
Post the older catalogs.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered the 80 to 2000
