I am still trying to find several more of the Shepherd designed Blue Topped Mountain glass jugs but for now I am enjoying these two pieces along with the decanter I have sent in photos of before. On the left is the smaller jug, a Blenko #7740S, beside it's larger vase a Blenko #7738. I am hoping to find the larger jug and small version of the vase one day.

I am an outdoors person and his designs speak to me.
Simple, rustic.
I heard he was not trained in glass arts but was an architect.

ReplyDeleteI do find many of Shepherd designs appealing. Shepherd is also one of the designers that some of his work is just outstanding such as the Big Sky and Blue Topped Mountain lines and other lines have absolutely no appeal to me. I guess you can find that with any artist/designer but I find it more prevalent when I look at his body of work for Blenko. I do also enjoy the specialty pieces he designed whether that is the Turquoise cased crystal vases or the Charisma like swirl pieces that are Tangerine and Turquoise. I am sure the market dictated some designs but overall he ranks up there with Anderson, Husted and Myers in my book.
