In answer to the equipment questions, I was using a Minolta Dimage 5 digital camera to shot the cactus photos. I do not use any filters in my photos. This is a relatively older camera and most of my more recent photos are made with my daughters Sony Cyber-shots with 7.2 mega-pixels. These are very compact cameras that I purchased for them to carry to Italy with their grandmother last spring '08. They do have several features that help adjust for challenging light situations.
