Blenko. Blenko. Blenko. Blenko. Chrysler Museum Glass Studio. Blenko. Blenko.
This message from our friend Tony Patti:
The Chrysler Museum Glass Studio is adjacent to the Museum in a modern, 7,000-square-foot facility. The Glass Studio will be equipped to accommodate aspiring and master artists alike. The state-of-the-art facility will support artists working in a variety of glassmaking processes, including blown glass, casting, fusing, flameworking and cold working. The facility will be the only one of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic region, and will spotlight the Chrysler’s extensive glass collection.
The Chrysler Museum Glass Studio will be a place for learning. Through a range of programs—including public demonstrations, classes, a Visiting Artist Series and an Artist in Residence Program—the Glass Studio will inspire new levels of appreciation and understanding of the Museum's extensive collection of historical and contemporary glass. The Chrysler Museum Glass Studio will provide the following programs:
•Free public demonstrations designed to complement visitors’ experience of the Chrysler's renowned glass collection.
•Fee-based workshops for individuals and small groups of teenagers and adults, as well as master classes with accomplished professional artists.
•Special demonstrations for school and adult tours that would cover a variety of specific topics, including the science of glassmaking and historical processes and techniques.
•Partnerships with regional institutions to offer introductory and advanced courses, as well as pre-professional internships.
•Visiting Artist Series is for established artists that are handpicked to come to the Museum and do live demonstrations in the glass studio as well as a public slide lecture of their work.
•An artist-in-residence program that would invite artists to undertake projects supported by their study in the Museum's collections and its research library.
•Glass Studio rental available to professional artists
