Hi Hillary,
Just wanted to share another story from the road. I have had the Myers designed stoppered Barbers Bottle for several years but recently added the rolled edge variant after a trip into southern Oklahoma. There is a small shop that I have stopped at several times without any success over the past but keep trying hoping for some luck. The shop owner likes her gambling so it isn't often the shop is actually open when I pass through this small town but on this day I could see her lights were on. Shelley and I made our way through the various rooms and found several other items that we wanted and began to check out when I noticed a door in the back of the shop opened that had not been open on my other visits. After peeking in I found lots of other "stuff" to wade through and eventually found this bottle up on a shelf stuck with several other bottles. After retrieving it I stepped out and asked how much the owner wanted for the piece and she came up with the figure of $3.00. Just proves that persistence will pay off some times. The stoppered bottle is a Myers designed Blenko #6727 and the rolled edge piece is a variant of the Blenko #6612. Both of these are Tangerine.
Hope you enjoy,
Bruce Specht

Husted pitchers
Hi Doc,
As I mentioned several weeks ago in another photo of Rose' I had found another piece to pass on to Shelley for Mothers Day this year. The pitcher on the left is a Husted designed Blenko #6030-M in Rose' with it's smaller version the Blenko #6030-S in the '61 Charcoal. Hope you enjoy as much as Shelley does.

Husted Blenko 5616-A vases
Hi Hillary,
A small grouping of Husted designed Blenko #5616-A vases. All three of these came from different stores across the state of Texas. The vase on the left is actually a "61 Charcoal piece but the photo has shifted it's color. It came from a shop outside of Austin, Texas. The Jonquil came from Azle, Texas and the Turquoise from Seymour, Texas. I had fun with the finding the turquoise piece in that it was in a shop in Shelley's mother hometown where she has been keeping an eye out for pieces since she knew I collected Blenko. She was hoping to surprise me when instead I walked in and surprised her.
Hope you and the blog enjoy,
Bruce Specht

Husted Vineyard vases
Hi Doc,
A couple of Vineyard vases that are new to my collection. I have always wanted to add this Vineyard vase to my collection and was surprised to find myself in possession of two within a week. I first stumbled upon the "61 Charcoal piece pictured on the right in a shop in Weatherford, Texas. I had spent most of my time wandering through several shops and was getting a feeling that I was going to come up empty-handed again when I spotted this on a shelf. With the "Blenko" etched signature and pristine condition I was happy to have found this one. I came home later that night and found another as a "Buy It Now" on Ebay for the same low price and decided that the Jonquil would be a nice companion to the Charcoal example I now had. These are Husted designed Blenko #6046. I particularly enjoy the random top edge to the vases.
Hope you agree,
Bruce Specht

Rose' vases
Hi Hillary,
I just wanted to share what I gave Shelley for her birthday this April. First off I need to mention that Shelley LOVES pink! So I have made it one of my goals to find Rose' pieces for her. Luckily I have had quite a bit of luck with mis-lists on Ebay recently. So much so that she might even be receiving several pieces for Mothers Day next weekend. On the left is a footed compote Blenko #629S with a textured body Blenko #6223 vase. The York Peppermint Patties and Lilies were just icing on the proverbial cake.
Hope you and the blog enjoy as well,
Bruce Specht

Pre-designer vases
Hi Doc,
A couple of pre-designer pieces that have found their way into the collection recently. I found the Amethyst Blenko #375 two handled vase in a antique store in Denton, Texas. What makes it unusual to me is that it is crackle. Before this I had only seen these in the optic bodies of which I have several nice examples in my collection. The other piece is a Ruby Blenko #488.
Enjoy,
Bruce Specht

Blenko Husted and Myers Peacock Decanters
Hi Hillary,
I can't help but keep going back to photograph some of my Peacock pieces. I have always enjoyed the color and it still is one of my favorite. I recently had the chance to pick up the optic decanter body on the right for which I had a stopper in reserve that worked out perfectly. The pieces are, from left to right, a Myers designed Blenko #6516, Husted designed Blenko #627L, and the Myers designed Blenko #646.
Hope you enjoy,
Bruce Specht

Blenko Glass Blog. Children Love Blenko!
Blenko Glass located in Milton, WVa.
When I was a little kid, I went to Blenko every week, I bought all my gifts for Teachers and friends at Blenko.
There was always glass available for less than $5.00.
Katie Trippe has continued this tradition. At Blenko you'll find paper weights, animals made of glass and other objects under $10 ( even with inflation this is a bargain). These items allow children to purchase Blenko. It also makes buying small glass items for the grandkid's affordable.
Blenko Glass has always been customer friendly.
Blenko is made in West Virginia. Each item is handcrafted.

Blenko Glass. The Blenko Glass Blog. Signed Glass.
Hillary: Is signed glass worth more than unsigned glass? Angela Mullins
Mrs. Mullins, I like signed glass , the signature provides a permanent method of identification. Signed Blenko Glass is available 365 days a year. At the Blenko Glass Gift Shop a special table of first quality glass with signature is available for purchase. These items cost 20-50% more than items w/o signatures.
Blenko Glass also provides the ability to ask for a signature when you order online. The cost is about $10 per item.
Blenko Glass also provides 'free signing of glass' during the Annual Festival of Glass, The WV Birthday Event, and Black Friday. Both Mr. Walter Blenko and Mr. Bill Blenko are above 65 year of age. I value their contributions to Blenko Glass and like having my purchases have their signature.
Angela, with all art glass, the value - or what its worth is " what someone is willing to pay "
My suggestion to all collectors is have the glass signed.

Blenko Glass. Blenko Colors
Dear Blenko Project:
My question is about Blenko Colors? How do I identify the color? Also how many colors does the water bottle come in? My goal is collect all these. Kimberly Webb Mt. Pleasant SC
Kimberly, In most of the Blenko Catalogs there is a listing of the colors for that year. Blenko frequently produces colors not listed. They also frost items. Identification of colors is difficult. The Blenko Archive has a color page. The Blenko Collectors - Four has an extensive list of colors with samples. Neither of these sites include colors produced after 2012. There is a blog called 364 Days of Blenko water bottles. I would recommend becoming a reader of this blog. The owner of the blog collects Blenko and like you, has a great interest in new and different water bottles.

Blenko Glass. Architectural Glass.
Hilery, Does Blenko make any architectural size glass. The big bottles I often see on ebay.
Nothing is pictured in the online catalog.
Help.
Deb Miller
Deb, Arlon Bayliss was at Blenko recently for one entire week, I can't wait to see what
wonderful new designs Bayliss and the talented Blenko Craftsmen will be offering this year.
On a recent visit to the Blenko Glass Gift Shop we saw large bottles for sale. If you don't live near enough to visit - phone Blenko Glass, they will take your charge card and mail the glass
to your home.

Blenko Glass. Identification of Blenko Glass.
For collectors who purchase after market Blenko Glass, there is always the question of Identification. Is it Blenko? Is it WV Glass or American Glass? Or is it a glass object from Home Goods?
Many times its easy to distinguish, the weight, the classic look, the pontail, the stamp Blenko Glass on the bottom, a signature?
Collectors new and old often turn to webpages to assist. The Blenko Collectors - Four has a classic webpage with colors, and signatures. This would be my first choice. The Blenko Project www.blenkoproject.org has all available Blenko Glass Catalogs published on line to allow the new collectors to identify their glass.
What do you think...are these two items Blenko?
I'll be interested in your thoughts. hjh
