Can you help me get info on these lamps?

Most Blenko Glass Lamps.
Are made from Blenko Glass Vases.
You might look in the catalogues for a vases similar to the shape of your vase base.
 A worker at Blenko CH  ( Charlie Harsbarger) is the person most often responsible for
making the lamps.  He is a talented lamp designer.  He uses high quality glass rods and high quality wires.
For years until the mid 70s Blenko provides shades, after this time no shades were provided.  It was too difficult to ship the shades and also  Blenko tell me the decorators wanted the ability to use their own shades.

Its impossible to tell what year your lamp was made.  Some lamps have the initials CH and a date.  If you have one of these lamps then the date would be significant.

Otherwise check the catalog for the year your base was made.   Blenko glass designs are often in the catalog for a decade or most.

Checkmate Series

The line, titled Checkmate, will include the suite of pieces in a full chess set. Pawn, knight, bishop, rook, king and queen are in planning and are to be produced over the next year to year and a half. A grouping of three differing Checkmate decanters make a strong visual statement. For the intense chess aficionado an entire oversized chess set could be assembled in both crystal and cobalt and a game played.

Created by Blenko’s newest designer Aaron Harvey, the 2nd piece in our new Checkmate series is meant to resemble a bishop piece in its traditional shape. Each piece made in the chess set will be offered in crystal with cobalt accents and cobalt with crystal accents. The bishop measures roughly 15.5” inches in height.  It bears all the hallmarks of handmade glass including a rough pontil on the base and will bear the hand carved name of Blenko and the year 2017. The contrasting color stopper for the bishop is accented with decorative etchings meant to resemble a bishop’s hat

WANTED BLENKO MARTINI PITCHER # 5817

Hello,

I am looking to purchase a specific Blenko Martini Pitcher from 1958 (#5817) in a teal blue color (as seen on this page http://www.blenkocollectors.com/1958catalog/1958Catalogp15.jpg) and was hoping you would be able to help direct my search. 

Does the Blenko Project work with sellers and interested buyers? Or would you know of some places I should start looking in my search for this piece? 

I came across the sites Cherish and 1stdibs but did not have any luck finding this particular pitcher. Any directions you could give me would be greatly appreciated, or if you hear that someone might be selling this piece. 

I also see that you work with Blenko Collectors and have emailed them as well for any help.

We have a full set of West Virginia Birthday Vases but our 1987 Basket has begun to crack close to the handle. We would be interested to know if that vase was available for sale and the price the Seller would want.

We have received this same complaint over a dozen times in the five years I've assisted with the blog.  Its a common complaint to have issue with the joints near the handles.  This is also one of the most difficult pieces to acquire.  So many were broken.   The handles are fragile.  We'll post this as a request.

Readers if you own a 87 Birthday Vase and you are not a Birthday Collector perhaps you'd be willing to rehome the vase?

I do know Blenko made a cheese tray,  my Memaw owned one, the one she had was crystal and had a mouse one it, she told us it was made by a man name Derke? .  The shape is similar.  I was unable to find the exact copy of your item in the catalogs I have. So I have ask that your photo be added to the blog, with a request for comments.  Perhaps a reader can property identify this item as Blenko.  It certainly appears to be Blenko, but I can't put an item number or color from this photo.  I apologize for not being more helpful.  Thomas

First of all, thank you so much for the Blenko Project Website and all the amazing resources you have provided. I am trying to learn as much as possible about my newly found passion for Blenko Glassware and the hours I have spent on your site have helped me greatly.

 

I was wondering if you might have any suggestions to offer as far as helping me locate a piece for my collection. The piece I am referring to is the elusive #6525 Lady Decanter... preferably in olive green or amber.

Does anyone own a #6525 Lady Decanter in need of a new home?

Glass Turtle Is This Blenko? Blenko Glass Blog. Heart Of Glass.

Hello,
I sent an email June 6 and have not heard back so I am re sending. Please tell
me if this is a Blenko, I see fish in the catalogs but no turtles.
We are trying to liquidate an estate, the daughter said it was bought in the 1950's.


We are more than 11 months behind in responding to questions from the www.blenkoproject.org email.   Our volunteers are working as quickly as possible, however, we receive multiple request daily, many containing several images that require research to determine their origin.

It is now our policy to determine - the glass is Blenko or not Blenko and then determine the maker ONLY if the original sender makes a second request.

If our volunteers are not 100%  or can't find an item in the catalogs we own they will respond within 2 weeks of date the volunteer receives  the photos.

The Line Begins very early... ..... If you aren't In Milton....Should you be?
Well....  Rumor has it....that  you are most often safe...as long as you
arrive BEFORE
MIDNIGHT
and sometime you are SAFE even if you arrive
at 6 am on SATURDAY
but many people have been disappointed
and left without a Blenko Birthday Vase
when they arrived late.

you can purchase a vase on EBAY for an upcharge of $100
most often the day after....fyi.

BUT the fun is standing in line....getting to know other BLENKO COLLECTORS listening to the stories of   the old timers....the folks who collected when the sale was in the downtown area - first at

Then at The Cultural Center
Then.....
well you get....This Blenko Birthday Vase is nearly an OLD LADY -  she was born in 1980!   The first Vases were crystal - and made by Sheperd only later did the designers add color.

Blenko at Bahnhof WVrsthaus and Biergarten

Driving in Huntington this weekend we unexpectedly spotted Blenko glass.

Of course we stopped to check it out, and ended up having lunch at a wonderful new restaurant in the Huntington area.

The wood inside and out was imported from Germany, and the glass blocks are Blenko Glass.

We had the 'Sausage Party' platter and it was delicious.

Everything is housemade- they grind and case their own sausages and make all the sauces and dips.

There are also more than 30 different brews on tap.

Inspired by the mountains and rolling hills of our beautiful state of West Virginia, the base of this 13.5’’ tall Cobalt, Clover & Crystal creation known as “Sun Over The Mountains” is emboldened with a variety of ingrained lines meant to emulate the curvature of our states hills and mountains. The piece is finished with a round Yellow stopper representing the sun. 

This is the 1^st West Virginia Day Piece designed by Blenko’s newest designer, Aaron Harvey.
