I came home to Charleston this weekend to volunteer at Give Kids a Smile Day Pre-screening, which was held Saturday from 9-1.
National "Give Kids a Smile!" Day is on Friday, February 1, 2008. The American Dental Association and its state and local societies aim to give underprivileged children in the their communities a chance to receive dental care. Dentists nationwide provided free dental services for under served children.
The event takes place during the first week in February each year as part of the Children’s Dental Health Month as a national initiative through the American Dental Association (ADA).
This will mark the sixth year.
Give Kids a Smile Day will take place across the state. In Charleston, it will be held at the WVU Dental Center at CAMC Memorial Division, In Huntington at Children's Place on Richmond Street, and in Morgantown at the WVU School of Dentistry's Pediatric Clinic.
The event is open to all families with children ages 5-12 who do not have dental health insurance. The kids do have to attend the prescreening in order to qualify for the free treatment.
