This group WVIFF has been around for a long time - my Mom tells stories about the early days - watching film in a Kanawha City backyard - they used white sheets for the screen and a projector. The 'cavedays' or pre 1982.
The films are always unique and well worth the small price.
This year:
The Darjeeling Limited - Film by Wes Anderson involves a journey across India by three American brothers who have not spoken to each other for a year.
I'm Not There- Note rated R. Director is Tom Hayes. Six actors play the various faces and phases of Bob Dylan.
Lars and the Real Girl- An original, amusing and heartfelt tale (romantic comedy) by Nancy Oliver who also did Six Feet Under.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford- a bio-drama. Rated R.
Starring Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell.
note: Affleck was nominated Best Supporting Actor, 2008 Golden Globe.
My suggestion would be to stop at BLENKO GLASS Visitors Center, Milton, W.Va. for a little shopping, eat a Granny K's, then drive on up to CHARLESTON for the very inexpensive
movies. Consider joining this group. The cost of membership is minimal.
