Title

Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Name That GLASS

Larry From TEXAS send theses PHOTOS - its a Are You Smarter Than ? . . . . Or Can You Identify the Glass Game. Can YOU?
Just an idea for the decorators out there. Blenko Antique (blown sheet glass) in green before finishing Gets tons of comments in my store.
KEEP buying Blenko keep the company alive. Support American made. In the early to mid 20th century there were in the neighborhood of 300 glass factories in the Ohio River valley. How many can you identify today? (not you Hillary, you know) Don't let Blenko become one of the many. Only we, as collectors and consumers of American made products, can save companies such as Blenko Glass Company. We don't have the details of what went on at the board meeting and don't need to speculate. Buy Blenko and it will be around for many years tocome. Larry from Texas. A broken bottle could be Blenko. A stopper Blenko. Blenko starfish, snowman and nice green Blenko bottle/vase. Fostoria or some kind of cystal water glass. Just a guess on some of the glass ware. My puppy is doing better we go to the vets this morning. I hope he just has to be checked out and then we get to come home. I thank you again for the prayer line. He looks good and is eating and drinking good. I have bleached everything and everywhere that Jake is going to be aloud to go. He will soon have more freedom, Rog is building him his own doggie yard. He will not get out and other dogs cannot get in. Will be less worry for me and I can keep it clean. That is what is sad he never went outside alone, we always take him. My heart goes out to poor mistreated pets. Jake is a dog, only he is my baby boy, gets treated better than some people treat their kids. Like Blenko he is so precious to me. Thank God he was up-to-date on all his shots. Roxie

Ps
Roxie we are so happy your puppy is now OK. Becareful, my own dog died about 10 years ago, 2 years after my hubby and I couldn't replace either the dog or the hubby as they were one of a kind.
When you have 'a good one' they are worth their weight in gold.

Re: Wiki
I may be of help, my BF has amongst his many talents
computer genius
I'll ask him, if he can do the additonal info to Wiki
unless a computer person from his board steps up.

The way wiki works the more people who add script the better so everyone add.

Someone needs to work on the
crawlers or whatever and get the blog and website up in the rankings also, while on this project.
P. You are good with these things? aren't ya?
It should be simple matter of key word indexing right?
Watching the IT folks is easier than doing I think.

Just read where they fired Rick Blenko. How can they fire the Blenko? This is the 'swan song' for that old rusty place.
Does anyone over there think about tomorrow? First they let Dave Osburn quit without a struggle, then fire Rick Blenko. The cream of the crop keeps leaving, Randy Rider probably won't stay long either, he's also too good for them.

Guys I know nothing of wiki or computers but read the info and the bottom paragraph looks perfect for an insert it says:
Attached to the Visitor's Center is an observation area adjacent to where the glass is blown, allowing visitors to watch as the glass is formed and molded. Beside the center is also a “garden of glass”, a swath of land on the shore of a small man-made lake bordering the factory strewn with colorful glass shards which border a small trail that winds around part of the factory and adorn various structures that reside near the lake shore ***** I suggest we add ** or the computer gurus add*** .This area is maintained by the BLENKO PROJECT a group started by Hilary Homburg when she was an undergraduate Foundation Scholar At WVU etc. LINK to the Blenko Project www.blenkoproject.org and then whatever info we can get from ms. hilly to add about her adovcay for Blenko Glass

This is for Who Cares:

Hilary is much too nice, I would be after you with a stick, or at least a nasty virus.

Hillary; Should we let everyone know the answers or let them think for a while? You control the answers. I am loving the number of responses and may do this again. No one has guessed the number of glass house are still open. BLENKO, FENTON, MOSSER, BOYD, OSBURN, WILKERSON are a start. Continue the list. Larry from TX
