Traditions - Do you have family traditions? My parents and I love gardens, glass and food, we travel well together. We have a dozen or so little weekend trips we do each year. One trip we've done yearly for more than 20 years is the Columbus Ohio - German Village Haus and Garden Tour www.germanvillage.org You can do a pre tour on Saturday which is expensive or a day tour on Sunday which is $20 per person. I recommend the Saturday night tour. Get to know the German Village neighborhood. Treat yourself to a weekend in Columbus.

WE DID A BEACH TRIP ONCE A YEAR AND WEEKLY GROWING UP MY FAMILY DID A VISIT EACH SATURDAY TO THE 5 and 10 CENT STORE HONEST
MY SISTERS AND I NOW TALK ABOUT THESE TIMES THE HOT DOGS AND COKES AND THINK WE DIDN"T EVEN KNOW WE WERE DOG POOR.
EACH SATURDAY WE GOT OUR ALLOWANCE AND WENT TO TOWN. DAD AND MOM SHOPPED WE DID THE 5 and 10 CENT STORE BOUGHT 45RPMS.

My family also goes to German Village we do the sales each year of antique furniture in September.
We bought a condo 5 years ago. Value went up and now has gone down.
Area has changed drastically in the 30 years 15 years we have known the village. My #1 son lived on Deschler for 2 years a 3rd floor apt.

My family did drive from Milton to Columbus yearly for school shopping back to school sales in Ohio were much better.
We also did the Mrytle Beach trip each year when Carbide had vacation time.

My family went out to eat after church on Sunday then to visit my gparents weekly.
On Wed we went bowling.

Spring thru fall we took long car rides thru the small communities late Saturday afternoon, then stopped at small restaurants for dinner. In summer we would go to the library (up above the fire station) in the small town we went to school in. You could only check out 2 books each, there we 3 of us. My sister and I read all the Hardy Boys, and our brother read all the Nancy Drew. Then the following week we would get a new supply. Small town in Michigan.

My family also did Sunday drives we were middle class we drove down to Palm Beach to the gated communities to view the other half on Sunday afternoon. Not much has changed I see people gawking at my house here in South Beach on Sunday afternoons mostly tourist.
