For my recent 23rd birthday a very dear friend gave me a vintage copy of the 1985 book Smart Women Foolish Choices.
The techniques Drs. Cowan and Kinder perscribe for finding the right man and avoiding the wrong ones...can be use when searching for the perfect addition to your COLLECTIONS.

1. Broaden Not Lower Your Expectations! Be open to new designers, new colors and new companies.... NOTE: BUY ONLY MADE IN USA GLASS.
2. Avoid All Too Common Types. Regardless of how cute, sweet, or colorful .. LEAVE THEM - bring home only the VERY SPECIAL!
3. Recognize 'Diamonds in the Rough' Some times you'll find the very best find...in an unusual location, or covered with dust...Don't over look an item of BLENKO because it isn't perfect. NOTHING IS PERFECT! Embrace the air bubble or small flaw as a symbol the item was hand crafted and is one of a kind!

IF you didn't read this book in the mid 80s and I must admit it was published before I could officially speak...find a copy. Chapters entitled: (1) Waiting for the Prince (independent, self centered, emotionally closed, unwilling to make a lasting commitment Prince)....could also be true of the local glass vendor. (2) Letting Go of Expectations/ Hidden Illusions (3) Longing vs Loving. There is more...but the authors say always leave them wanting more....so I will quit now.

This is a MUST READ before you hit the MILTON FLEA MARKET in search of new TREASURES for your collection. hjh
