Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Anderson Vases

This photo is a good example of the difference in Blenko Amethst and Mulberry.
From the left is an Anderson designed Blenko #927 in Amethyst and Blenko #533 in
Mulberry. Hope this is of some help to your readers.

Enjoy,
Bruce

Mulberry is extremely rare. You have to get a better design than the 533. That looks like an amethyst variation. A great example to use, and one of the few, is the 584. I have one, and that 533 picture is too light. Mulberry is very dark. 1960s Plum and lilac are brighter than mulberry, go figure.

Speaking of Anderson. Last week I read on a website that Winslow was gay and the story about his partner dying etc....most of us have known this for decades.
Winslow was a very private person, I think he would be appalled to know a person he consider a young friend would be responsible for 'outing' him. We the people who lived in his community respected his privacy as did the Blenko's. The post was incorrect about the Blenko's having issue with his sexuality.
In our small part of the world, unless the person is in your face with their sexuality - we respect the right to privacy.
I don't care who you sleep with or when. Outing a person who lived such a private life is
well sinful.
