The question was how was Vineyard made? The answer strangely enough can be seen on an old Blenko postcard. The postcard (which I have cropped here) in question shows a glass blower and helper. If you look close enough you can see the piece they are working on is a Vineyard design. I circled the piece in a purple line. Look closely where the yellow arrow is pointing and you can see the mold is full of holes. Thus when the blower blows into the mold the shape is formed, but several bubble poke through the holes. A very cool process, I was lucky enough to hear Wayne Husted describe how he found a piece of metal that had blanks punched through and that gave him the idea for Vineyard. Thank you to Tim and Karin Alonzo - Texas BLENKO Collectors.
Title
Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass
Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.
