Subject: Blenko Glass
Hi there - saw in the Herald Dispatch that you were looking for pictures and stories about the glass company. I have one that I would like to share with you.
My father worked for a local trucking company in Huntington for 25+ years. Blenko Glass was his last stop every evening to pick up the items that were being trucked and shipped out. Upon learning that he was going to retire - he was presented with this swan on his last evening run from Milton. My father valued the friendship that he had made with the employees of Blenko and returned very often to visit with them and to bring members of our family for tours there. Always to be welcomed warmly by all that remembered him.
I have the honor of having the swan in our home now. It brings sweet memories of the times that Dad took me to see the glass blowers working on their glass pieces. Thanks for all the good memories.

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

I have a similar swan make by Jessie carpenter and randy rider in the mid 70s early 80s for my Uncle Harold Miller who also
was a supplier.
Blenko makes everyone welcome and everyone feels special.

Is the swan available now at the VC?
I collect swans but did not known this was a Blenko item.

Up early to prepare for work, I strongly believe Blenko visits should be mandatory for all elementary schools in WVa.
We are forgetting or loosing our history.
