If you follow this blog - or collect BLENKO GLASS you know of Damon Crain , the Blenko Museum and VM GLASSHOUSE. Damon 'knows glass', he writes frequently about Blenko for major publications , Damon's collections, his photos are the best! We 'borrow' photos from Damon Crain often, he is generous with information, he is a teacher, he wants you to know about quality so you'll want the very best. Most often he has 'just that item'. In the last four years, Damon and I have spoken about everything from nutrition to the environment. I always find myself wishing Damon lived near.
Damon's VM Glasshouse publishes an often controversial newsletter, my belief is Damon likes inspiring people to discuss issues and product.
In this latest issue he list his competition. OUR PURPLE MOON is listed! Modern Guy Chuck and his bride own Purple Moon, this shop should be on your list of places to visit. If you haven't. Capitol Street in downtown Charleston, WV or on the web. Below w/o Damon permission but I know he won't mind is a small section of the article - you'll want to go to his website and read in its entirety.
GLASSHOUSE
What We Sell:
All our glass is vintage, meaning old & out of production. The glass we sell was all made between circa 1920 and 1970. The type of glass we specialize in is called free-blown "production" glass with a focus on rare examples.
Free-blown glass is made entirely by hand using blowpipes, molds (almost always hand-carved wooden molds) and shaping tools. The work is performed by skilled workers, each performing a specialized task.
The process is not mechanized but takes place in a small artisan and factory (production) setting as opposed to in a studio.

Who qualifies as "competition"? Any store or website that specializes in comparable vintage glass to what I sell, or stores or websites that regularly stock a reasonable selection (more than just a few pieces) of comparable vintage glass. I do NOT consider a store or website competition if they clearly do not know what they are selling and either don't identify things or incorrectly identify them – they must have at least basic knowledge of the glass. I absolutely do not consider group sites or auction sites to be competition. Rarely do those unreliable venues with their multitude of part-time hobbyist sellers actually know what they have or correctly identify them.
That being said, I do have real competition and I would like to introduce you to them. This is different from me endorsing them – patronize them at your own risk. What they all have in common is passion and dedication enough to regularly sell Blenko, Empoli or other mid-century blown production glass.
THE PURPLE MOON was on this list! Folks you don't need to travel to NEW YORK CITY for quality vintage Glass! Purple Moon is located on Capitol Street in Charleston, W. Va.
SERENITY GLASS in TEXAS - isn't yet on Damon's radar, we won't tell him about Larry's terrific shop with vintage BLENKO and low, low prices! BLOGGER WON"T ALLOW ME TO DO LINKS TO PURPLE MOON AND SERENTITY GLASS, I'll return later and attempt this again!

Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass
Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

I did follow the link, and agree Damon Crain is full of himself
and he knows his product.
You are a lucky lady, Dr. H.
My comments weren't posted. It is an ongoing problem.
I am trying to start a waterbottle collection for my gchildren.
Last year I bought the three new colors and this year I want to buy red blue and white
but there is no red blue or white
the light blue I bought is available but the navy is not.
It is listed as an available color.
When is it available?
Sue Mullins
Colbalt is a regular color - ask Diane or Mindy about this - waterbottles should be always available in the line colors.
Red & White maybe more difficult, Ruby is not made frquently and when ruby water bottles are available they are about $60.
Again mention to Diane and either prepay or ask her to phone you when it is available.
I haven't seen a white glass blenko waterbottle - this doesn't mean it was never made -
I'll ask TK and also Blenko but it would be a rare water bottle.
Check Ebay for this also.
Water bottles are great gift ideas for children and also for beginning collectors.
