Title

Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Read with interest the comments regarding Katie Tripp (e)'s promotion to VP.
Many VP 's of small business have a BA or less.
Rick BLenko had only a BS and he was President - he did a few years of hands on glass factory experience.
I think only one of the Fenton' have a graduate degree
but again they are family and have a life time of glass
experience.
Dunbar Glass President didn't had a degree but grew up in the plant while his grandad managed it.
Small plants, less than 50 employees, a good subway might be more difficult to manage. Just me mouthing off my thoughts.

Question for Blenko.
The new glass seems to be lighter and less dense, is this a new process or did I purchase 2nds?
All five pieces bought in 2012 seem lighter. I am not complaining I like the glass.

I have noticed the weight thing as well, mostly with the water bottle. I have a number of vintage colors, and they all seem heavier than the new ones I've bought directly from Blenko. It has become yet another way for me to estimate age.

hello bruce, i noticed the same thing. the new pieces are lighter and less dense. they blow in more air to save material cost.

Two comments:
Is blowing in more air a good thing?
Blenko is beginning to look a lot like the Mexican and Chinese and Indian glass.
They are selling heavier glass from
Italy at TXMass for less.
Someone here had a question about Tripp with an e being a VP or Asst VP a comment on another post where Hillary called her Asst VP was correct in comments to say the is VP.
What is the saying about rising to the top. Floats?
Excellent choice. Other than Chrsite who has worked in the office for a couple decades and / or Carole who also has a vast knowledge of Blenko.
KT's great job thus far has been rewarded and it should be.

Seriously, Anonymous? Were your comments a joke, or are you being serious? Either way, very sad.

Love the BL enko
I received the memo but always forget to
use this.

Anonymous I think Jarret was serious.
Ask vendors for their opinion.

Will you get an official version of why the Blenko Glass is light in weight and thinner than it has been?
New blowers?
Do they use the same molds?

Yellow. One of my favorite colors.

OK I will try to do the BL enko
each time.
To denote BL enko is no longer Blenko.
Trippe was an honors grad from Marshall. She continues to do a terrific job of running daily the BL enko Glass Company in difficult times.
Enough cross talk regarding people.

You are in correct. Two Fenton family members have graduate degrees both married into the family.
