Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Strange.
I was at Blenko Glass once and heard from an administrative person one of the negatives about
RIchard Blenko was the wasted time appearing with PBS.
At the time I thought the person speaking was young and foolish.
Apparently now the Admin appreciates the power of PBS. I doubt 3/4 of the people from outside WV would know of Blenko w/o PBS.
Face it folks its been years since Blenko was in a laarge department store. Or did good advertisement in a magazine.

Are prices the same for the entire sale?
Or are they reduced for the last weekend?
Someone ask me this last evening, anyone with an answer?

Just thought about all of you blenko collecter's yesterday while looking thur one of the South Charleston Antique shops. Blenko of all kinds, with prices that I thought were fair. Many different colors, and shapes even had some ashtray's. Happens to carry alittle bit of everything, even saw water bottles and this cobalt blue pitcher with a clear handle that was devine. I wished that I had a camera. Then along with the shops, you get any number of places to eat, so that makes it a wonderful place to treasure hunt, look for that something that says take me home. Thinking of St.Patty's Day the three floor shop had alot of different greens. Left behide a clear mixed drink glass that once I got home I told myself that was blenko for a dollar and yes I could hear your Momma laughing to only say get that. Sunday I am going back to look at two more stores, so will let you know what I find. They even had some purple. All kinds of WVa. glass. Just amazing.Like walking in a museum there is so much. Happy Gardening to all, Jake the peek has just realized it is laying on the front porch time weather.God Bless, Roxie Manuel

Question for you Hilary.

Did any of the Blenko Glass designers do stain glass?
If so who and do you have examples of the work?
I'll check in a week or so - to find the answer...

No Blenko film was shown? Blenko donated glass is this correct? Or gave glass at reduced price.

PBS and Blenko are a made in Heaven marriage.
The Blenko films are well made, a new one that includes Mr. Walter would be a welcome addition.

Bridgett,
Don Shepherd designed stain glass panels prior to his work at Blenko Glass.
