not bad.

Is a a school of glassblowing
in West Virginia?
Where does one go to learn this skill?
$25 per hour is more than I make as
a school teacher.

Wow $25
what does Blenko pay?
The work would be difficult and require a good deal of skill right?
So $25 is not a lot.

Most studio glass artists have a bachlors degree in art and have gone to an acredited art school and taken glass as a major ,to do production work for an independant studio you will more than likely require 3 to 4 years of experiance .It is usually more of a passion than a job ,that ,you will find out when you are blowing glass steady for 8 hours a day in August :)

Studio artist at Tamarack
has no degree.
No glass blowing school in W.Va.
When I emailed to ask they do not require a degree.
Perhaps to teach in a university one would need a degree
but I think skill is more important.
Myers had what a BA when he opened the school of design in Chicago?
Geoff
Other than Dave Osburn and Randy Rider Blenko has no one who would qualify.

Yesterday I wrote a letter to the Coal company suggesting when / if they acquire Blenko they consider donating Blenko to Marshall to be used as a part of the arts department. We need a glassblowing school here. We watched Randy Rider and others perform last summer, these guys could work as adjunct faculty they are very talented employees at Blenko who could also work in a glassblowing school.
We of course wish Blenko to remain Blenko for as long as possible, but future thinking should include donating the factory - if the enviroment isn't an issue - could be clean up cost would be costly.
