Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Blenko Glass. Blenko Blog. 365 Days of Blenko Photos. Sponge Bob Vase ( item # 6812)

www.blenkoglass.com   and www.blenkoproject.org   to learn more about Blenko Glass and WVa Glass.

Here are three examples of the piece that Blenko employees refer to now as Sponge Bob vases, item number 6812.  I always thought that the circles looked like orange slices but some people think of them as sand dollars.  The colors are, to the best of my knowledge, Olive Green, Turquoise and a later example of Teal.

These are from the 60's. Blenko is currently making them as vases, that is without spouts, just flaired lips. The cost at the Visitors Center has been $35.00 if I recall correctly. I can send photos to Hillary of the current ones if anyone is interested.

I phoned Blenko today
the lady said these are available on line.

Phoned the VC
the lady didn't seem to understand what i needed.
I gave the item * and referred her to this page
and still no luck.
Perhaps giving the VC workers a catalog would be helpful.
Thank you Lorin

Blenko refers to these vases as "Sponge Bobs" after the recent cartoon character. The VC workers will probably respond favorable to that name.

Good suggestion
I used the catalog number.
