Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

What Happens When We Are Not Speaking?

Some days I grow  tired of opening emails with request for items I don't have access to, or research I
don't have the time to complete for an unknown .   Comments about what should be done or printed and what should not.  Have the courage to keep a few thoughts to yourself today!

Daily I get mail that isn't pleasant or complimentary of WVa Glass.  Sending negative comments to the Blenko Project will not alter the quality of your glass.  Those comments need to be made directly to the manufacturer or the source of your glass.

Rambling on and on about what needs to be corrected without offering assistance is useless.

Making negative comments when you don't have facts.  Why?.   We ( those  associated with Blenko Project)  do not work for any WVa Glass Maker,  we are collectors of Blenko Glass.  We provide www.blenkoproject.org  web site with Blenko Catalogs and other Blenko Glass related reference materials.   We help you for free of charge to identify your glass,  to rehome glass you no longer want, and often assist collectors with acquiring an item they have long been searching for.  We are not paid for any of the above services.   We are a group - a very loosely knit group of volunteers.
No one is a Blenko employee, or related to a Blenko employee or any other glass seller or manufacturer.   We are for the most part professionals who work full time.  For us glass is a hobby, a diversion,&/ or a passion.
We don't have the time to search the catalogs for you - we did place the catalogs on line to allow individuals to identify their glass.  We will assist if you can't find your item.  Please make an attempt before asking for our help.
'Thank You  '  and ' Please'  are  welcome additions to your emails for info.

If you find the catalogues or the website helpful,  consider volunteering with the Blenko Project
send photos of your glass, or glass events,  we welcome your photos and your glass stories.

Hillary. So many times you identify my glass, answer my questions, help me find sellers with glass I desire. Often I forget to say " thank you" you are a big part of our life -are you feeling misunderstood, not valued????
Don,t. Become negative. You can be a ray of sunshine e

Sometimes people have no way of knowing just how much they positively impact others. I love your passion for the craft and the West Virginia craftpeople! Hang in there! An avid Blenko fanatic!

Well put! I too am often discouraged by the behavior of humanity! I read your blog regularly and check daily for updates. To be honest some days it's the highlight of my work day. People sometimes never know exactly what impact they have on others! Hang in there and please keep doing what you do. I love your passion for the craft and the West Virginia craftspeople! Thank you for all your efforts! Sincerely an avid Blenko fanatic and former Huntingtonian

If you are truly tired let someone working for Blenko do the blog, They would know more about Blenko and also have more free time.

Sam
Blenko did a q & a on their website it sucked.
They now do a facebook page that is equally boring and neglected.
I prefer tired to lazy.

I don't think Hilary is asking you to bad mouth other blenko sites, she is saying
either - offer a solution, volunteer to help, or be positive or shut up. Am I right Hilary?

I know about Blenko and Kaufmans
They produced 3 items in the 80s much like WV Birthday
it didn't go over well.
Only 75 of the lst series was purchased, remaining g when on clearance for less than 20$
While I don't know anyone with the series I bet Hilary will know about it and probably either owns it or knows someone who does.
It was crystal glass. Made by DS
and Blenko.
Hope this helps
