Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Myers decanters

I am sending along this photo of two more Myers decanters I have picked up along
the way. They both found their way into my collection as mis-lists from Ebay.
The Crystal optic decanter is a Blenko #6942 and the Turquoise optic decanter is
a Blenko #6935. Both are wonderful examples of Joel Philip Myers design work
during his tenure at Blenko in the 60's.

Hope you enjoy,
Bruce

"Mis-list"? It makes me wonder if that's really the case. I think 90% of those "mis-lists" are intentional. So, if you don't know your Blenko, then "boo hoo hoo" for you. For example, I often see charcoal and turquoise being passed off as peacock with the help of Photoshop. Aqua? That's another one to avoid in most cases. Just because a seller puts a question mark on the auction heading doesn't give that seller an excuse to cheat a buyer. "Mis-list" could also mean not giving enough info, such as glass sickness, scratches, chips, manufacturing flaws, and other heartbreaking annoyances. Cheating? Yes!! Ebay is full of them; so buyers, BEWARE. When it comes to money, people are 'funny.' It's a big drag to return those big Blenkos, if you know what I mean. Plus, it's out of your pocket expense. "Mis-list"? Put a giant red-flag whenever you see a question mark on any auction. A dumb "mis-list" is seeing an inflated price on a common Blenko item. I actually email the seller asking: "How did you manage to come up with that price?" in a naive manner. There are many sides to "mis-list." Again, and I can't stress this enough, study your Blenko interest before hitting that button, and ask tons of questions. Unfortunately, even then, sellers don't tell you everything. They want your money at all costs. Is it worth your trouble returning a giant vase, decanter, etc.? "Mis-list"? How about a "Blacklist" of annoying sellers? I have a long list.

I have no luck with blenko and I do wish Hillery would do a Black list for us.
10 pieces I bought last year are not Blenko but either Viking or Chinese.
Can we do a blacklist Hillery?
Please.

Carolee, where did you buy them? When an item is specifically advertised as Blenko, Ebay will refund your money if you can prove to them that it's not in the Blenko catalogs. It's actually illegal to sell fake stuff, and it falls under false advertisement. The way sellers get around it is by putting a question mark while stating, "No Return."

Are you being ironic, Hillary, regarding the price tags? True, my love is guaranteed, but it has a high price. Who said romantic love is free.

Simple. Yet Poetic.
We bought a dozen of the red hearts in 2009 for our grandkids.

Major Thom Hilery doesn't get sarcasms.

My previous post was meant for the "Happy Valentine's Day" picture, regarding the hearts with price tags. I thought it was funny the first time I saw it.

I dunno if Hilary is as dense as she pretends to be. . . .but I agree she doesn't seem to get
'flirting, sarcasms, or banter.'
Anyone know of a good 2nd hand store that carries Vintage Blenko I'll be in the area 2nd week of March. Since the Balls (Milton) closed I have no place to successfully shop.
