Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Seeing hot molten glass for first time was for me
the moment time stopped.
My Blenko moment - to be honest was June.
Must admit I didn't know of Blenko before GAS.
Call me stupid and uninformed.
Milestones are important, do you journal?

Congratulations HJH, thats a big milestone in life which entirely changes the course of life..

I met so many people from different walks of life and their outlook towards life made me more humble in life

I am also impressed by your true dedication to Blenko project and commitment to it and it has made me realize that we can pursue what we want apart from daily routine life.

I learnt about Blenko accidently when looking for arts online and its interesting. I am reading most of stuff online I would like to see one day the hot molten glass shaped beautifully..

Your dedication and commitment is another milestone in my life

I remember my dad taking me and my mom to Blenko when I was little: just to see the glass being hand blown left me awestruck and my mind in a whirl of beautiful colors of the glass. That was my Blenko milestone and I was seven. We had Blenko glass in our house; now that my parents are both gone, I have it and have acquired much more over the years. Blenko is far ahead of any other handmade glass: it has an aliveness about it. The colors and shapes still continue to take away my breath.

I'd like to thank you Hillary for reviving my attention to Blenko... the pieces I have and the ones I'd like to have. Like someone else, said: "You were important in another milestone." Thanks!

thanks so much for all you do; please see attached files...I am having fun creating images out of the glass piles (thrown away stuff); thought you might like these for the blog. Blenko Glass is so beautiful from their finished work to even the thrown away pieces too! I've made new photo notecards with images "Bits of Glass" and also paperweights for the visitor center! Tamarack was also excited about them. Have a great day today too!!

It's true: you revived my interest [and disgust at what I got rid of/ smile] in Blenko.
They need to give you a big special made art glass piece for all of your work: seriously.

WOW Im blushing! You all are so nice.
But I must confess Ms. Sharon Reed Hill was the most popular teacher in my Grade School - and was almost my 2nd grade teacher - so we have a mutal admiration going on for a decade plus.
Lura Moul is a wonderful, single woman photographer, teacher who loves to photograph and also loves Blenko - so she might be bias.
Andre - well andre is an artist.
WVUGUY - Is a very wise Lawyer, and also LOVES WVU so he also may be bias!
Ram - I don't know but hope to have he/she and family collecting soon!
The other annonymous writers...well, I THANK YOU all for the very positive comments.
Blenko is a wonderful company, with the closing of FENTON it will be the only factory to blow glass in West Virginia and I believe the only US factory to make antique glass (correct me on this please someone). . .so we need to START BUYING MADE IN USA and made in WEST VIRGINIA!

I 've a question.
My secretary said
your comment that I would never be a distration
was not a complement.
I took it as a positive statement, she says it was another put down.
How did you mean this?

Do you know where I can get a copy of the PBS program, "Hearts of

the VCR.

Thank you,

The ' white coat ceremony ' is by invitation only- meaning a dental school student has to ask you.
If my Dad or friends take photos I'll post one.

You are such a loving woman, the story about David Hardesty made think of his days in Charleston as Secretary of State.
He was considered the most handsome man in Rockefellars cabinet.
Get off topic more often, I enjoy Blenko but also your comments about other things.
