Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

A reminder that the next full moon is this Monday March 29th. As with every full moon, Yogiraj Siddhanath and the Hamsa Yoga Sangh serve humanity as their larger Self through a collective Earth Peace Meditation. Yogiraj transmits Shaktipat healing energy worldwide to help evolve humanity into a peaceful coexistence. Shaktipat is the transmission of the Master's Kundalini energy which one may avail of to get into an expanded state of awareness and further spiritual evolution by removing blocks of negativity, stress and tension.

We can all receive the healing transmission by sitting for meditation anytime between the hours of around 7-10pm, your local time. The exact timing isn't critical as the energy is often available for more than a day. Just make yourself available to Yogiraj by forming the spiritual bridge between his heart and yours, dropping the mind and opening the heart. Those who have been taught Yogiraj's Earth Peace Meditation should conclude with it to help spread the vibrations of peace. Those would like to learn this technique can see our website for the nearest Hamsacharya (authorized teacher) nearest you: http://www.hamsa-yoga.org/teachers

You can read more about the Full Moon Earth Peace Meditations here:
http://www.hamsa-yoga.org/earth-peace-meditation

And be sure to spread the word to all your friends and family. The more people meditating together, the more powerful the effect shall be.
Blenko collectors like most other busy and stressed people need an outlet and a place to get in touch with their inner self.
Glass is a wonderful distraction much superior to food, sex, shopping for clothing etc. If one must have an addiction then Blenko or Glass collecting is superior.
I wanted to share the above with all.

Earth Peace meditations are ongoing for 365 days in 2010.
Not just for the Hindi people but for all. We are all one.
Susan, your conbination of spirituality and daily living is to be admired.
Last year one of my friends opened the awareness of owning and surrounding self only with things we love nad things (people) that bring joy and thought in my life.
Like you S. collecting things made by hand bring joy. Quality over qanitity is all things.
Thanks to you for the reminder.

I will give it a shot at identifying these pieces. Starting from the left the tall green footed vase appears to either be Morgantown or Italian in origin. The Amberina looks to be a Blenko #6742 which should be approximately 11 3/4 " tall. The blue vase/decanter body looks very similar to Greenwich/Flintcraft pieces I have seen. The Olive Green double spout decanter is indeed a Blenko #6812 designed by Joel Myers as is the #6742.

Oh I heard Lemley is now working at Osburn Glass
Have you any info Hilary?
I heard he is selling on the road for Osburn. If this is true
it could be problems for your beloved Blenko.
Lemley has personality and Lemley knows glass. Blenko and stain glass.
Does anyone else remaining at Blenko know glass? I ask you not to be rude but to become informed.

Bridgett, Was it the green on the left or the right? The one of the left requires more light during photography.

well i think whats going on here speaks for its self. They cant get colors right, nobody seems to know what to do about it so i would say no ,nobody knows about glass is left.
osburn knew how to make it and he took care of the furnaces Lemly knew the chemicals and the proper amounts to put in he was very careful about getting the right amounts of color and pigments right.
I have heard Dave is making dalle and rondell samples for customers now so if those two guys do hook up then look out because everybody knows Dave can make about anything and he used to make dalles and rondells when he worked at Blenkos and other antique items
as well ir better than anybody that has ever worked there.Don knows a lot of people to sell to and like i said his knowledge of glass is second to none so who knows?maybe they will be able to hire a bunch of guys and give them 40 hours of work a week unlike what they are getting now.

i wont sign fear of being fired

This is a Blenko sight for people who like and collect Blenko.
Why not start your own Osburn Glass and former blenko employee blog?
Just a thought.
I too am not crazy for the Blenko changes however Blenko is the last remaining manufacturing business in Cabell or Putnam county. Support your local organizatons. There is enough for all.
