Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

May I ask how people use the Blenko in their homes? Other than tableware what does one do with all that Blenko?

Cammie
We'll ask for photos - in my home - we use glass shelves and display the Blenko. We also daily use our Blenko glasses, dishes, vases etc. Blenko was made to be used. My parents have more than 100 unique Blenko items displayed behind bushes and on the bird house etc in their downtown Charleston home. Blenko doesn't promote the glass as a garden item - however - for the last 20+ years the glass in my parents yard has withstood the WV winters. Readers - How do you use or display your Blenko? This photo is from the www.theblenkoproject.org page - this collector uses Blenko as a part of his decor. Send your photos, suggestions etc for using Blenko.

Mine is stacked in boxes shipping boxes in closets
when I purchase a new home I'll display and use
each item.
Do you have photos of the garden glass? I recall asking Blenko sales lady about garden glass and she replied they don't have garden glass.

Hilary I have seen articles about your families blenko garden, if you would be so kind as to post about the garden with photos and also information re: what items are safe in the garden. FYI
Re: Blenko gift shop, the current shopkeepers are an improvement.

I have a garage full of boxes marked Blenko.
My goal for 2010 was to complete several collection groupings / my amx card is suffering from exhaustion.
Please everyone send your photos viewing others collection is inspiring.

WVJanis often sent photos of blenko displayed in her home.
Some of us line shelf after shelf and the more artistic folk are able to work the blenko into the decor.
Cammie do you own Blenko, if so you might want to search wvjanis' photos from this blog.
The photos from Bruce also offer examples of groupings.

We have video tape from a local news station of the garden.
I'm going to send this to Tim Alonzo - he is uploading Blenko
clips to U TUBE.
You must search U TUBE for the Alonzo clips - educational clips about collecting Blenko.
My best guess is most all Blenko can be used in the yard especially the heavy molded items.

Are you OK? 2 days without an update is not normal behavior.
