Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Marvin Lipofsky - Glass Artist

While most of my friends can't wait to buy a great car, a bigger TV or faster computer. My goal is to own something made by my friend Marvin Lipofsky.
Marvin is known as one of the founders of the glass art movement. He is a founding member of the GAS - Glass Art Society . One summer as a part of a special program - Marvin worked with the men at Blenko Glass.

Doc Hillary
We now own 3 items made by ML
we readily admit not knowing the name before you posted his work a couple years ago.
Now to find a Harvey Littleton item for under 3K is my new goal.

What does Roxie think about Marvin's work?
We should hear from the Cabin Creek area re: what is art.

We've been to SOFA in Chicago.
Hilary I agree with the person who suggest you have a new computer.
While you are more reliable than the men in my life, a new computer is needed.
My email is returned 50% of the time.

Why did such a famous person work at Blenko?
Next question Why did Blenko let him leave?

Neglected to comment on the beauty of this art.
Does he blow this? How do they combine the colors?

Suggestion:
Interview Marvin
speak about his time at Blenko
what was it like to do factory work or to work with factory craftmen instead of fellow artist?
Would he do it again?
Does he remember Blenko and if so what does he remember?
Next question what does his art sell for? If you are comparing the purchase to a computer / tv/ car?

Reminds me of life "Under the Sea." Breathtaking. Once I saw a tortoise shell bowl that had this same undulating quality.

It would be nice to see more Lipofsky.
