Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Will say that is nice. I like the mugs. I just caught up. Please, and I am sorry for writing what I am gonna say. You got it right Janis Joplin view on intergrity is one I would question. I was a fan who read her ture story. The only art she had was a volkswagon and a tatto on her wrist. Sad her life was, an herion addiction that she could not live with or without, it killed her. Is that intergrity? Have you ever watched someone die? Intergrity NO, It is each persons own chance at Bravery, for there is know fight when God says your turn. Unless you call taking your own life as she did intergrity. Again I am sorry for my views on intergrity. The military does not even know what that is any more. We sale the 2010 models to the enemy while are boys are using the junk. Talk to the people who have been to Iraq. That is intergrity staying in a country where they want us out. Then you mention some numbers of some glass pieces that were made years ago, I would not of used that word you used when they were remade, for they already had a DADDY, Just maybe they are remaking because someone said they could. There is a difference in a artist that loves his work and one who knows how to make an object. Ever done factory work? A good waste of money when there are molds setting around collecting dust that an artist already designed. . Is this person really an artist? NO! He is a worker who was taught by the artist, doing what he was told to do by a higher up to make money. If the stoppers were poorly made then they messed-up when they set up the pattern to the permanent mold.I would ask what is perfection? What is art? Blenko is a business that sales beautiful colored glass, where who ever inspects the work does not do their job good enough. Maybe they forget that the glass collectors will pick the inperfections apart, or maybe they are thinking each piece of glass is a number one with the inperfections, then again maybe they need glasses for their eye sight could be failing. It is a shame that you pay as much for the inperfections as you do a perfect piece of glass. I guess maybe you just realize that the world and the people in it have changed. I do so miss the days of my childhood the times and the people were a different breed, now all people think about is the money. How to get more money, How not to spend to much money. They also do not care if you complan either, they will just tell you not to come back to spend your money. When in the old days they would make it right. When you replace God with MONEY this is what you get. So that makes money an idol. God Bless Roxie

I saw the mugs first. When I started collecting old catalogs I noticed the pitcher. Later on I saw the ad. I have mugs with various colored rings.

I like this. The simple Blenko
in the bold accent color.
Design and execution are excellent.

Dr.BOB, Later this summer I will be having a get together at my home for local collectors here in Dallas. I'll keep collectors on this blog updated just in case.
