Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

BLENKO AT HOME

Dr. Hillary,

We have found two more milk cans and a two Husted tea pots.
The other two are from 65. Our house is a collection of beautifull things
from the people who live here to the history and the art that make a house a
Home.

Thanks Larry T.

Mr. Larry T.
Phani and I have and continue to enjoy your post and photos of your glass. Thank you.
Perhaps later this year we'll submit our glass photos to the blogs.

You are absolutely right Bridgett. Great glass and we should also take pictures of the glass and post it.

Anybody been to Blenko in the last month?
We were down there 35 days ago and the shop had very little available for sale.
Many shelves were filled with items from other vendors.
Soon I expect to see the Anchor Hocking made in China repo water bottles being offered at Blenko.
Sad. Sad. Sad. I miss Diena and Mendy and Angel these ladies knew glass and wouldoften go to the back for items requested.

I would have to agree one of the worst things they ever did as let Diana ad Mindy leave. They never should have let Lemly in stained glass leave, should have gave him more money to stay. Their stained glass dept. has went way down hill, nobody there knows anything about glass.

DURING ONE OF THE GLASS HOLIDAYS I WATCHED LEMLEY TEACHING. VERY PEOPLE ORIENTED AND GENTLE MAN.
CURRENTLY THE STAFF, GLASSSHOP OR GIFTSHOP STAFF ARE THE ONLY STAFF I HAVE REASON TO BE IN CONTACT WITH. AGREE WITH THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE COMMENT, THE GIFT SHOP CLERKS NO NOTHING AND WOULD RATHER TALK TO ONE ANOTHER OR SNACK THAN SERVE CUSTOMERS. MY LAST VISIT I HAD TO WAIT AND ONLY 3 PEOPLE WERE IN THE SHOP. WHEN I ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT STOCK I WAS TOLD WHAT YOU SEE IF WHAT WE HAVE.
A 180 CHANGE FROM 14-15 MONTHS AGO.

Anon,
They did not let lemley leave they fired him. Go figure the smartest glass-guy they got and they dismiss him. They are paying for it now.

There is another WV resident trying to become famous. My niece Valerie is wanting to win in the OWN your own show with Oprah. She is an accountant in St. Albans. If you can, please go to

http://myown.oprah.com/audition/index.html?request=video_details&response_id=6667&promo_id=1

and vote for her so another WV resident can make it big. She is needing a great # of votes to win and would make WV proud. If the website does not bring her up, search for Valerie and look for the one with 20000 votes - that would be her. THANKS!
