Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Blenko 2011 www.blenkoglass.com

This week I had a note from Margie saying " check out the Blenko online 2011 catalog,' I did and you'll want to also.
This 5929L is being offered in 3 colors for $400. Its 36 inches high.
Water bottle collectors will be delighted to learn there are
a half dozen or more new water bottles.
www.blenkoglass.com You'll want to visit the website and the Blenko Glass Museum and Gift Shop located in Milton, W.Va. (gps directions are on the web site).

Collectors everywhere will either be delighted to own these or else
furious as they do now own.
We have an almost ruby one paid $1,800 to an Ohio gentleman in 2006. The new price of $400 is quiet reasonable, lately Blenko has been too expensive for gift giving.
I would buy this, if the quality if fair for $400.

Delighted to see this.
We own 8 (5 small and 3 large) cost was between $500 and $1,500 at auctions.
We enjoy Blenko's attempt to reproduce items from the 60s and 70s.
Will you publish photos of all available colors? I've been to the website but would like to see color photos.
Quality, can you speak to the quality?
We hope to visit for the Glass Festival, will you attend?

Dear Glassdoc,
This is either a genius idea or the plan of fools.
These bottles made by Husted and men in the 60, 70s are considered by 'art dealers' and those who collect to be the best of Blenko.
People owning these items, expect their value will increase. With the re issue and the sandblasted signature of WH Blenko well as I said before this is either the move of a genius or fools.

Only time will tell. I can't speak as either a collector or a person with art glass expertise, no family connection to the arts
We'll wait for the Damon newsletter to learn if this is a good thing.
If these are well made the $400 is an excellent price. We'll be at Blenko during the month of May.
Take care, how is your house hunt going? Heard the prices are dropping monthly, perhaps waiting til summer would be best.

Tammie Kosko and the Collector group kept Blenko from re issuing items of value to collectors. This group no longer exist so there is no control of quality.
We now collect Fenton, Viking, and Hinkle Glass. Each item can be documented and are not re issued.

Have you heard from Bruce and Roxie? I noticed a lack of photos and comments from these two.
I so much enjoy Roxie's " Jeff Foxworthy take on life" and Bruce's photos.
I want very much someday to meet both Roxie and Bruce and many of the other blog regulars.
Perhaps we should be scheduling a coffee soon.

I really wish Blenko would make what people want. I wanted a custom order done from Blenko. They gave me some excuse that they couldn't make it. I was even willing to pay a good amount of money for the pieces!

I went over to Osburn and he made them for me instead!

Dear Sam T: Yes, I will take good pictures of the Seebreeze and post them. Blenko sent me an email yesterday saying March 18th was the estimated delivery date.
