Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Les Womack

Hilary,
How does the average joe, without a Blenko connection get to know the Blenko glass workers?
Sue Mullins
Sue, Shorty Finley and Les Womack and many other retired workers come back to Blenko Glass for the Festival of Glass. You might want to plan a trip to Milton during this time.
Les Womack is responsible for most all Angels and Snowmen sold at Blenko. Womack returns several times each year to assist the current Blenko Glass workers. Shorty Finley returns for Festival of Glass. Check out the www.blenkoglass.co website for information. hjh photo of Les Womack and Shorty Finley 10/10

Les is a good guy who should be remembered he was not a real good people manager but he sure knew how to work glass. He taught them boys alot Osburn,Rider,Davis and others owe him for making them better glass workers.

We are all average joes
none of us knew glass people before joining this group.
Now we know many Fenton workers,
and in April we will visit a place in NY for 3 days.
Join a local glass club and travel with them.
Then you too will 'know' the makers of the glass.

We met Les W. in 2007, his wife and daughter also work (ed) at the plant.
She (wife) served cake and was a hostess the day we visited Blenko.
Hilary if you have the resources more 'old timer' stories would be a welcome additon.
