Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Center PA Festival of Arts 2013. July 11-14.

Center PA festival of arts will celebrate its 46th anniversary this year from July 11-14 (http://www.arts-festival.com/). It is a 4-day event that brings about 125,000 people to state college PA. Various artists use this as an opportunity to showcase their art, glass makers being one of them. As of now, the festival is open for artists for registration.

Last year I posted after the event, and some you asked me to post it earlier, so you can make arrangements or plan accordingly. If you like to contact me, you can do so via contact form on Blenkoproject website or you may email to TheBlenkoProject@aol.com .

Thanks,
V

If people promise to come, and get some of their glass, I will try to get a stall, so we can showcase blenko glass there. We have to work it out with blenko first, but if enough glass is here, we can try and showcase it. V

Who is this V?
V is a post doc doing research and he also collects glass, don't you read the blog you troll?

I found prices reasonable. The pieces bu Thomas Chapman were $35 each. Also, if you go on the last day, you can negotiate and get for lesser prices. I have seen people do this, however, I am very bad at it. V

below is the link for various types of arts. Some of the pieces are very reasonable (esp, thomas chapman's http://www.arts-festival.com/cpfaartists/artist.php?id=1093 ). There were other artists who had pieces ranging from 8-10K and some from 30-200. More than 1000 artists come, so it will take time to find what you like, but in past, I have been able to find some reasonable pieces. Moreover, you can contact them after the festival too, and negotiate. I think someone from here did that with Thomas Chapman and got very good prices (cheaper than Blenko) for outdoor glass.

The addresses are not provided, I have contact of thomas chapman only, because I liked his glass. ; Thomas Chapman, runs Shiloh Hotglass (937-277-4592). He was kind enough to extend invitation to visit his work shop, and said he may consider making custom pieces. People from our blog in past have bought glass pieces from him, and they said the prices were reasonable. Do mention the glass blog and blenko project when and if you speak to him.

Below are 2 videos of Thomas Chapman at work at his residence.
