Readers Question - Can we help?

Reader needs our help - was her glass properly repaired? Did the value decrease? hjh

Hillary,

I recently purchased a 16" Persian Cylindrical u-cut vase by designer Wayne Husted. It's the vase with the downward slopes on the sides on the attached photo. It is beautiful but unfortunately it had some rough edges (small chips) along the bottom area of one slope. We have since carefully did some grinding and polishing on the rough edge. Hopefully done so it is not so noticeable. How much value would you say we have lost by this damage/repair? It still has it's silver label on the front and all else is in good condition. I actually couldn't find any info on this particular colored piece on the Internet to get any value at all, so not sure.I only found that the tangerine 10.75" style is worth approx. $495 Thank you. A.

Value is what someone would pay right?
My thoughts are repairs should always be professionally made, but this looks good to me.
I have heard prices are down but in my neighborhood stores I have seen no drop in prices, must admit I don't ebay very often.
I do shop huntington, so charleston, ironton, ashland, lexington.

I like your glass and think it has value.

Yesterday the flower beds at Blenko looked very sad, no glass, no flowers and no mulch.
If you let me know what weekend your Mom and group plan to work we'll come over and help.
My computer screen saver is a photo of glass in the blenko flower bed.
Yesterday I bought 6 big bowls to use for bird seed and water here at the clinic. 2 broke this winter but the other 8 needed only a good cleaning.
Color selection was limited.
We didn't go to Kissin Kate's next month we will and I'll tell you about this shop.

The yogic nature in every individual is the magical element that integrates the body, mind and spirit. It strengthens the power of visualization, intent and courage of conviction, and steers one towards success in any walk of life.
Allow the yogi within you to live.

Yes. Even Blenko Glass Co has a yogi within.

Sweetdoc,
I went with Sol twice and enjoyed 4 hours of very hard work.
The grounds at Blenko are often overlooked. Open the shops back door and its a paradise, I weeded this paradise for 4 hours.
The word I got was volunteers were terminated when the 'layoffs' happen in late Jan.
Should you discover this to be no so pass along the info.

I know you don't personally allow the comment - but can you check with your helps about allowing all comments? My comments rarely appear; I might add, comments are never off topic or off color.
Anyone else having this problem?

Larry of Serenity Glass in Texas wrote to say he closed his shop Mountain Rita. He didn't say he was leaving the blog.

Annu,
Neither my Irish father nor my Jewish Mom could understand that language.
Good comment about the inner self, you are correct all companies have a soul of their own. Dunno that I would proclaim Blenko's to be
doing a fire walk. Honest? Blenko is a good down to earth USA factory. Honest men working making an honest living producing a product that can vary from outstanding to fair.

Ask Tammie Kosla about this she will know if it lost value.

Hi Folks; I am still here. Personally I do not knowingly purchase, for resale, any piece of glass that has been repaired. I do in my collection have pieces that have been repaired. Most collectors will not pay nearly as much for repaired glass as not repaired. I have not seen this piece in the marketplace during my travels. Leslie Pina values these pieces at $300.00 to $400.00 in jonquil and lilac. I will try to get some photos soon. larry from TX
