Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Your Photos - West Virginia Glass

WVUGUYO7 - A Cane
This Photo is of a Cane.
I purchased at the Shop in Milton, West Virginia.
It was once owned by the Gibson Family - a wonderful family of glass workers - Mr. Gibson had a stroke and sold the shop to Dave Osburn who once worked at your BLENKO GLASS. I believe this Cane was made by Dave Osburn.
Mr. Gibson's daughter owns a glass shop that is on the main drag there in Milton can't recall the name but I stop each time I'm in the Milton area. She is a glass artist and does the glass relief glass drawings and glass carving work on the glass. I have been told she is now selling her items also at Blenko and Tamarack. I have several of her pieces. I can send photos of those also if you like. Those this BLENKO connection might make a nice point of conversation for the newspaper blog. WVUGUY07. Note: Thank you WVUGUY hjh

This is one interesting item. Does Blenko make the 'cane'? Is the cane a daily available item for Osburn glass and can you provide a number for the Osburn Glass?
We would like to have these for elderly relatives, aren't they delightful, can't you just see an elderly lady with these colorful canes as part of her outfits.
These 'canes' would be a hot item at the Senior Center.

Wonderful Photo!
Delicious Colors - is this available in other colors?
I don't need a walking aide but would consider buying a few to use as fashion accessories.
Hilary where do you find these
items.
No wait - you didn't.
WVUGuy Thank you for sharing. Hilary great idea to have people share. I continue to Learn New Stuff.
When does that group meet in Milton?

The cane is beautiful. Very different indeed. Nice piece to have in a collection, it would be nice to know how many of these glass cane's were made and what year they started making glass cane's.

Weston (WV) is the maker of 2 of the glass canes I have the others were made by glassworkers in New York State.
So WV is not the only 'glass makers' out there.
