Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Many of these are new for me, and I am a long time Blenko person.
Are they models or something?
Help with more info.

0Hi Margie!
Some are models and some are from older collections that I've found in some books. The bowtie looking piece was in the shop one day and I loved it and had to have it. I've never seen another one like it but it's definitely Blenko!
Some of the other pieces are from short-lived collections that didn't ever go mainstream. Those are my faves!
Feel free to email me if you'd like to talk more Blenko at h0llyk911@aol.com (that' a zero in my name... just to add confusion). :)

Why do all the females using this Blog ignore me?

I also ask questions Holly. Don't worry I won't email you.

A wonderful collection, have seen the top hat in black. Very nice piece should have a bunny to set on the lip of the hat. Sol, we woman do not ignore you, you just got to say something that we would like to talk about. Buy us some Blenko we will talk. Ruby I think is the color that is not being made any more, I love the dark red and I love the cobalt blue, I like all good glass. Good luck on collecting a ruby red top hat.

I promise I"m not ignoring you, Sol! I will ask my husband if he is willing to part with at least one of his hourglasses - but since it took us two years to find them on the evil that is Ebay - I'm not sure if I can convince him to do it!

There are two pieces that I'm looking for if anyone ever finds 'em. The first is anything Rialto - vase, glass - whatever - I would LOVE to own a piece. The second is the tall cat that was made in the 70's (I think).

I"m so glad you all love my pictures - I'll send Hillary some more as soon as I can get them taken!

Are you in Texas? or WV?
We need to start our own club here
if you are local, enough people write to this newspaper with glass to form a good group

Hi all!
I'm in WV and have grown up in Barboursville and Huntington. Visiting Blenko was something we did often but I didn't start collecting until a few years ago.
I'd love to join a WV club - and wish the avid collectors were closer than TX! :)

I'm certain we have the collectors here - (avid) Sol's Mom, Dale Hairding, yourself, Margie, Sweetdoc, we need to get everyone signed up for Blenko Collectors and then start meeting monthly or everyother week etc.
In August I'm home for 2 weeks - before then I'll do a post and perhaps we can all meet somewhere for Coke or Coffee one day.
My own life is too full until May 2009 - so I won't be an active member until after 5/09. But starting this summer sounds great!
Be thinking about it you all.
