Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

West Virginia Glass - Paper Weights

Glasslady

I wrote in September to ask about Paper weight collecting. What Blenko had to offer, what was currently available and also if you could publish photos of older paperweights.

I received a form email - stating you received my email and would research.

Call me Still waiting in OK.

Max K.

Max,

We wrote to Blenko in early September asking for photos of available Paperweights and any information they might have.

Blenko is making night lites out of the paperweights.
I purchased 3 for birth gifts.
Paper weights are being made, not sure what the delay with photos is but they do offer these, or did when I was last to Blenko.

I gave my paper weight collection to the local glass museum, but most all were from the tri state area.
Charlie Gibson made the best
he and Mr. Harmon. See if you can find photos of their work for blog readers.
Blenko use to make paper weights with roses and swirls in the 70s . I have no knowledge of paper weights in the current stock.

Hillary,

we have a collection of Blenko, Gibson and Hamon paperweights at home and in our store. The Blenko paperweights are the old-style with swirled, colored centers. The Hamon paperweights are mostly freeforms that are one of a kind. I will send picks in the next few days.

I ordered the 3 pictured but would you have glasslady post photos of your collection.
Paper weights would be an inexpensive way to start a collection or if one is older they take up little room.
Beauty in a mini size.
