Title

Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Note: Photo of Blenko Punch bowl set from a Georgia collector, we received 2 dozen + emails asking where to purchase this. This set is beautiful, and on my wish list. Like Bruce and Deb of Texas, if I had the punch bowl I'd be forced to host parties with cookies and punch. Delightful Blast from the Past!

Oh how I long for this set.
My mother tells me in the 70s everyone had punch bowls, she was able to come up with crystal cut glass she tell me this was made in the Wheeling WV area and purchased in a Philadelphia store, anyone know anything about Wheeling WV glass?
I now have a punch bowl and cups from wheeling, wv.

Hillary: You are already doing all of the above. Maybe the newspaper can find a journalism student at Marshall to help with the blog while you are working so hard in your internship.

Your readers love WV Glass so much and this blog is the closes thing to a forum we have. You provide a great service. I'll take whatever you have time to give us. Thank you for all of your effort. And, so happy you and your family are OK after the car accident.

Here's to a great 2010 for all of us. I hope to spend even more time in WV and am hoping for a 2010 BLENKO birthday piece that matches the 2009 decanter. It reminds me of an Elizabethan era lady with that flared collar, blue glass skirt, and crystal ball head. I'm hoping for a "gent" decanter (black straight body, clear or milk glass head, I can see it now). Whatever the result, let's hope Bayliss is involved. He and his, now-wife, were so incredibly charming, happy for BLENKO, and very informative at the 2008 Birthday event.

Time to put on some Jimmy Sturr polka music and prepare for New Year's Eve................

My family and I together think you do way too much for Blenko Glass with very little support, I read your comments {will post photos or info when it arrives from Blenko}, {we have written to Blenko, will post when info arrives}.
What is the problem with Blenko, I am assuming they either gift you the entire new line each year, or else you purchase glass way below wholesale - which is nothing when compared to your daily efforts.
Blenko needs to examine their priorities, vision for the future and put aside petty jealousy.

In knowledge we can prevail.

Seek, find and spread the Truth !

You do not allow negative tho truthful comments about Blenko.

What is happening now? The good people are leaving, forced to leave,
if this keeps us Katie will have to blow the glass she travels all the time to sell.
Why? Ask why? Seek answers, when we give you knowledge accept.

I have been around watching if you will, Blenko will never repay Hillary or her Mother for all they do. The only employee that I have ever heard speak about how much they do was Mr. Lemley. He was talking about the visitor center work during his class this past year.(which I got to take finally). I am going to take a one on one class soon Mr. Lemley said he would help me do a sunburst when I took my next class.

Good luck anonymous on your next class. Lemley does not work at Blenko anymore. He might teach you a class in his garage. LOL

Read the blog before you comment.
36 months ago Hilary wrote, she receives no discount, no free glass, and very few photos from Blenko.
She may be treated with same contempt as the BCS .
Hilary if this has changed, and you are now receiving discounts and free line each year, report this, then we'll move on to another complaint.

Any word about Don Lemley? Was he rehired?

that will never happen, everybody knows she does not care for lemley. we all know it but we cant do anything about it we need our jobs to. We miss him at the factory the place is not the same. We could go to him with any problem work or personal he would help. If she will fire him none of us are safe, it makes working days long. Whos next.

I would be willing to bet the Blenkos don't know the truth about Lemley. They know what they were told. Somebody needs to talk to Walter.

I am with Assistance League S/P-S/B, an organization I volunteer with and I am in charge of the Consignment
Dept. We have just received the very same punch bowl listed on your web site for our consignment shop and we are trying to put a price on this item. We know it is a very special bowl and it is very likely it is Blenko.
This bowl comes with the same glass tray and 13 cups.
It is a very thick glass and a gorgeous color of green.
Comments on price would be appreciated.
Thank you.
