Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. The festival traditionally begins the 1st day of the first month (Chinese calendar) and ends on the 15th. Chinese New Year's Eve is know as chu xi It literally means "Year - pass Eve.
It is a tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors are decorated in red color paper cups and couplets with popular themes of "happiness', " wealth," and "longevity". On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper is a feast with families.
Why not celebrate while cleaning all your Blenko, then plan to host a party, using your colorful Blenko to bring in a New Year of happiness, wealth, and longevity?

You neglected to mention its a tradition to forget all grudges, and sincerely wish peace and happiness to all. Its not just the Chinese but Tibetians also hold this holiday with great respect.

Talking about the Chinese and Tibetians, makes me rember seeing about 12 of those robe dress priest and the older one in the lead looked into my eyes like he was seeing my spirit and soul,to smile the most peaceful smile. To learn from the priest would be a wonderful experience. Now that BLACK CAT is beautiful! My first pet was a Black Cat name Tirebaby.Needless to say there are most likely still black cats with that name on the farm there in Brunswick,MD where I was born. Just one day? I think for the priest it would be more like a child of God, a daily event. Only still just to have been smiled at by the older priest was a blessing. I figured out why the snow is so bad. It is coming from Siberia, down across Alaska, then we wonder why all the snow. My maiden name is Wenner, so I think alot about Old Man Wenner when its snows, for the family tree goes way back to Germany and Russia, barbarian was a word used. The red birds are beautiful this year, with a shade of ruby red that is outstanding, or we just got some pretty birds here in Ronda. I would like to know how many of you got the BIG BIG snow blizzard and are snowed in? Just thinking how pretty a picture of Blenko in the snow would be. All those big tall vases, with the white snow and the sunshine/someday, can image the colored shadows, might be like a rainbow on the ground, with sparkles. That is what is one of the nices features of Blenko glass, for new collectors. The sunshines through the glass, to throw rays of colored light across the room. It is just amazing.God bless and peace to your house, Roxie
