Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Here is a photo of that fabulous dome on the Capitol Bldg. from the
Cultural Arts Center that Hillary says is a must to see. I absolutely
agree. You can see the reflection of a quilt exhibit from last year.
Fabulous exhibits of glass and non-glass items. High on my list of
"the Seven Wonders" of WV!!! And, oh that dome! You can't imagine
how impressive it looks as one approaches on I-79. For a minute, you
feel like you are in Europe. Reminds me of my favorite WV singer,
Hazel Dickens.... "West Virginia, oh my home. West Virginia is where
I belong. In the dead of the night, in the still and the quiet, I
slip away like a bird in flight. Back to those hills, the place that
I call home. West Virginia.........."

I live on the last block of Virginia Street. I like to hang my head out of my window at night. The dome is all one can see, lit up, and majestically shining.

I am a Mountaineer by choice. Would not ever again live anyplace else. Want my ashes spread in the Kanawha, this is as close to what I think 'heaven on earth' can be.
Beauty at every turn, mountains, streams, young people like Hilary, this state has many natural resources but people, the people are magnificently pure.
Great photo WVjanis let me know when you come this way again, we'll plan a blog readers meeting.
