Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Reader Will Be Selling a 2007 and 2008 Birthday Vase on June 20th

This is a photo of 2008 Birthday Vase that Elmer will have for sale, the 2007 is Blue with blue and green - I'll look for a photo to upload.
Hills,

Read in Heart of Glass some people didn't get the 2007 and 2008 who wanted one. I have an extra one of both - due to dead in my family. I will bring them June 20th at 7 am.

Note: I will be selling for ABOVE the sticker price. Tell anyone interested to ask for me.

BLENKO SHOULD INCREASE THE PRICE TO 400 or 500 DOLLARS THEMSELVES AND STOP YOU PIRATES FOR DOING THIS.
THIS ITEM IS TOO CHEAP THE DEMAN IS OVERWHELMING AND THE SUPPLY LIMTED
ONE ANSWER IS TO INCREASE THE COST ND ALLOW PEOPLE TO PRE ORDER AT 500 EACH.

I paid more than $500 as I was too stupid to 'be there and be there on time'.

The entire world is in a state of change. My Favorite high end store is closing! (see below) and my favorite vintage glass Blenko struggles also! Both ends of financial world is experiencing turmoil
In a move that surprised nobody, Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) today announced plans to shutter its struggling 29-store Ruehl chain by the end of the year.

Perhaps the chain's offerings were out of step with the times. Ruehl sought to define "the aspirational Greenwich Village lifestyle" with high-priced "signature styles" of clothing. The names of its products invoked a trendy kind of sophistication that the New York City neighborhood is known for; "One Night Stand," "Buying Drinks" and "Chance Encounter" pocketbooks went for $298, while jeans sold for $118 and a pair of leather flip-flops fetched $50.

Sol and I won't be coming this year Hilly. We decided after the last 'diva drama' we would stop collecting Birthday.
We will continue to gift new Blenko and add to our vintage Blenko collections.

In 1980 we started collecting B-day each year the item cost double what Blenko should cost but we bought. Cant explain why the current decade has seen stagnant price in this item.
Last year we got #122, our last, we decided after reading all the post June 20th blog comments we wouldn't return this year. The new collectors are a vicious group. The 50 or 60 people from the 80s group still coming always comment about the attitude. Getting #1 was never important to us. Still isn't. When I read Ironchief's comments last year, my thoughts were I hope this year she/he gets the #1 and can stop the complaining for 30 minutes. Perhpas main difference may be the people buy and sell blenko.
The recent articles at Blenko in my WVU Magazines have resulted in increased interest in Blenko from new pool.

I was having lunch today and met 3 couples who will be in line all from different states and all readers of the blog, all anxious to meet you. Will you be at Blenko tonight or tomorrow?

Lewis, Randy & Lydia,

My complaints have nothing to do with being first in line, but everything to do with RESPECT.

If one is to make a commitment to waiting on line for an item, be it the birthday piece, a Wii or anything else then they should do just that, wait on line. I have and always will have a problem with people who place a chair on line but not themself. Putting a chair on line and going back home until the morning is disrespecting the rest on line.

It is your loss if you have decided to stop collecting the birthday piece.

By the way, I am not the only one who is and wasn't happy with those who chose to take advantage of the courteous people on line.

Anyway, have a great West Virginia Day!

I'M CERTAIN BEING THE MAN YOU ARE
YOU SPOKE UP TO THE PEOPLE WHO WERE BEHAVING BADLY AND SHOWING NO RESPECT BY LEAVING THEIR CHAIRS.
IF YOU DID NOT
THEN SHAME ON YOU. REAL MAN ADDRESS THE ISSUE AT THE TIME, WITH THE PERSON, NOT IN THE NEWSPAPER
