Stopper Not Fitting ? What to do.... suggestions.

Hilary

My West Virginia Birthday 2009 decanter has a stopper that doesn't fit. I tried to call Blenko about the problem. I am certain it is a unique to me issue, but no one has returned my call.

Did anyone else get a stopper that isn't holding straight?

Suggestions from anyone as to what to do are welcome? Should I try super glue?

Brandi

Brandi,

While I delivered the 2009 B-day vase to WVU in mid June, I wasn't at the June 20th event and have no knowledge of issue with stopper. You are the first to write to the blog - so I'm thinking its just your stopper.

You didn't include an email address - or I would have made this less public.

Phone Blenko and / or if you are close by go in.

Randy Rider and his crew of men are expert glass craftsmen and they would never knowingly allow a mis fit stopper to leave Blenko.

Please contact them, let me be the first to apologize to you for your inconvenience. Blenko is known for handcrafted, quality man glass. We want to keep the reputation high and in tact.

If you want a perfect stopper buy Waterford.
No one makes perfect stopper off hand, do they?
Give me a break, don't be so picky.

Dear "Stopper Not Fitting,"

Decanter stoppers are rarely perfect. They are hand made and ground to fit. Sometimes you need to twist them a little to see which way they seat best. Sometimes you need to tap a stopper gently in the opposite direction from the way it is listing. Sometimes you need to call Blenko.

That 2009 birthday stopper tickles me. If you read my earlier post, you know I refer to it as Queen Elizabeth's head resting on top of that Elizabethian collar. It is so heavy, I just may carry it for protection when walking through super center parking lots after dark!!!

Just back from THE BEST driving tour of Central West Virginia. As if visiting Milton and getting a Blenko 2009 Birthday piece wasn't enough, saw the Birthday Collection that Hillary donated to WVU; visited the Morgantown Glass Museum in Seneca Center; visited the Museum of American Glass and the Marble Museum in Weston; chatted with Dean Six; attended the Antique Bottle Show held in the American Glass Museum; attended the Lavender Fair at La Paix Farm in Alum Bridge, WV.... WV is heavenly! Good Glass, good people, good times. My belly is full of lavender cookies, lavender jelly, and lavender lemonade. The house has a couple of new pieces of glass. Best of all, the SD card is loaded with pictures!

Will try to send Hillary some photos soon.

P.S. Let us know what you end up doing about the stopper!

LMAO Hilary since 1990 Blenko has experienced difficulty with stoppers not fitting ie being too high, too low, wobbly. Check this with older collectors if you don't believe me.
Very few line items are made with stoppers have you noticed?
