Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

SIZE MATTERS

Damon Crane knows 'glass arts' and Blenko Glass, he writes often about Blenko. His Vintage Modern glasshouse Newsletter is free of cost and always educational and usually provocative. Size Matters
The Vintage Modern glasshouse Newsletter, Issue No.12

Bigger is not always better, but all things being equal, size does matter! The Architectural Scale genre introduced by Wayne Husted, pioneered by Winslow Anderson and produced by the Blenko Glass Company is a pivotal proto-Studio Glass development in the production glass field. Whereas Tiffany had “Favrille Glass,” Kosta had Ariel glass, and Venini had Incalmo, the Blenko Glass Company had Architectural Scale. Unequivocally, the Architectural Scale genre is the single most important innovation in mid-century American glass.

This mans ego matches the price of his glassware,
must say the quality also is extremely high.
I would purchase.
Good selection and tell us more Glasslady about his place.

Hate is such a strong word. I wouldn't necessarily characterize Mr. Crain's feelings toward Blenko as hate. I would say that it is clear he is disappointed with declining quality, and prefers to focus on the Historic Period of Blenko glass. He collects, and sells, what he loves about Blenko. I have found him to be very gracious, and generous with his information. If he has an ego, he did the homework to earn it.

Hillary CLEARLY doesn't hate Blenko, or she wouldn't have spent all the time she does on the blog or the Blenko Project. She could just as easily stay happily anonymous and focus on her studies, rather than deal with sniping such as this.

We are all disappointed that Blenko is closed, and since their future is uncertain, it is frustrating. Taking it out on Hilly is just petty. And you wonder why your comments aren't always published.

Thank you, Ren-Woman, for a voice of reason. My dealings with Mr. Crain have been the same. Very helpful and sharing of information, I have learned a lot. He has the credentials and has worked for them. You may not agree with his focus, but there's no need to be rude about it, for M. Rita and others.
