I wonder why its called purple as I see no purple in the picture unless I am color-blind. So, I guess blenko makes just the glass part and who assembles the remaining top cover (buld holder) etc?? Are there local shops who buy blenko and assemble this stuff??

I heard from my colleagues in paducah about the history of the famous italian car makers: Ferrari, Mazzeratti and Lambhorghini. These companies are very local when they started, more like family businesses. All the companies are within visiting distance from each other and they grew enormously now. When I mean family business, lets say a part of the family makes bearings and their cousins family makes drive-shafts and etc..and other family assembles them together and as they are not mass-produced (even now), they are very very famous for their Quality, reliability and brand (world class) and everything is hand-made instead of robotics (these days) they started being LOCAL and grew internationally. Now each of the cars cost more than 150grand. We can think of some major brands in history like RolceRoyce or some swiss watchmakers etc, they were a great success there and grew out internationally.

SUPPORT LOCAL IF YOU CAN.

Sweet Doc

I enjoyed the Purple Moon too. Seeing all the stunning glassware made me want to upgrade my collection. The nice thing about the Purple Moon is that there is something for everybody. From jewelry to furniture to art to Christmas cards. Even a friend or spouse who doesn't collect BLENKO will find something to look at.

Next door is an UPSCALE clothing consignment store. Around the corner is the Paris Cafe/Restaurant, Taylor Books (a must visit for downtown Charleston). And of course, not too far is Capitol Market selling beautiful Christmas trees this time of year. And the blue and gold dome of the Capitol building hovers on the horizon. And many performances to enjoy can be found at the Clay Center.

Yes, if you are visiting West Virginia, going downtown Charleston is a MUST.

Sweet doc, the art gallery attached to Taylor books has lots of new BLENKO. They have the water bottles lined, looking like a rainbow up in the ceiling. Taylor Books brews a great cup of coffee and is second only to the nearby public library for a bathroom break.

Bathroom is in the back, I try to keep the poster of glasslady from being covered every other week or when I go to book signings.
