Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

Snowmen, Angels, Ornaments,

Blenko Glass (304 743 9081) is ready for the Holiday Season. Their BIG SALE is the Friday after Turkey Day.
Mr. WH 'Bill' and Walter Blenko will be signing glass. This is a wonderful opportunity to get 'more rare' signatures on your BLENKO. Check out http://www.blenkoglass.com/ website for exact times, perhaps a coupon or two, check the website often the information changes frequently. You will want to attend this HOLIDAY SALE!
Every day is a good day to shop BLENKO. I prefer going before the sale, the shelves are full, the clearance tables (check underneath also) are full, the shop isn't crowded and Diana and or Mindy have time to answer questions. These ladies love GLASS and they know the product on their shelves. Stop. . Ask them what's new, if there are any one of kinds, or older things on the shelves, if you don't see what you want "ASK" they can tell you when the item you desire, will be made, you might arrange to have it shipped. These ladies are extraordinarily friendly and knowledgeable, Mindy's father Mr. Gibson is one of West Virginia's finest glass makers (retired), while Diane has worked in and around glass for a long time. Both ladies are approachable and want to help! Trust me these ladies are not 'the usual' behind the counter person. They are BLENKO!

Dr Bob
They do have a frosted snowman, check out the VC for 'unusual items', colors etc.

anonymous: Re Rick
I know nothing of gold, silver, or tarnished parachutes. He certainly would be deserving as would any long term loyal Blenko employee. Not many family owned small businesses have the funds for this.
SOL,
I am not always or usually the person to approve comments, if you don't swear it is most often approved. I do read comments, within the week they are posted.
The time stamp is a question for most of us, it works only part of the time.
Margie,
Mr. WH Blenko has not signed glass
except on special occassions for more than 20 years. Mr. Richard did all the special events and signings. Mr. WH is a bit over 80, and spent his time in administrative issues.
Mr. Walter's signature is new and would be very rare.
I'd stand in a very long line for either signature!

Did West Va. Janis
take this photo???

WV Janis said...

WV Janis did not take the photo, but the person who did uses the same technique of backlighting and an uncluttered background to feature the glass.

I with I had taken the photo. I must admit the photo makes me want a snowman.

The photo was taken by our webmaster, Teri.

Thank you Teri! I often 'borrow' photos from Blenko's website, the photos are professional in quality.
So all the photos you see that say www.blenkoglass.com may have been taken by Terri.
Terri has an online Blenko Glass vintage store, I'll try to get a link and post.
