Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

OK - Now Its Time To Start Holiday Shopping!

When do you put up the tree? When I was a child, my parents didn't put up the tree until after my Moms' December birthday. Now, we put the tree up while I'm home for Thanksgiving, we do all the decorating during Turkey Week.

Shopping - BLACK FRIDAY - comes after Thanksgiving. My parents shop for Winter Holidays from September until
Dec 24th. One nice thing about shopping early - is the SELECTION of Items is prime. At BLENKO GLASS http://www.blenkoglass.com/ the website has a limited selection of wonderful items all perfect for Holiday Gift giving. The Visitors Center in Milton, WV has MORE, MUCH MORE. Driving to Milton - is similar - to the PA Shopping trips so many of my neighbors partake of. At Blenko GLASS the savy shopper can find gifts for everyone, under one roof. Classic, whimsical, utilitarian BLENKO has glass and designs appropriate for every family member. BLENKO will be having a HOLIDAY SALE and you'll read about the sale here and on their website. BUT why WAIT, go now to the Visitors Center, or order on line and ask BLENKO to ship the item to the receipient. The extra cost is small, the service large.

In Photo above - Order Now - As the quanity may be limited.

The West Virginia Cultural Center use to do a series of West Virginia handcrafted ornaments each year. They were not cheap $25-60 in the 80s, but they were beautiful.
Marvelous idea the Christmas ornaments from Blenko, Lemley handpainted is way beyond beautiful is this the wife of David Lemley stain glass artist you write about?
Blenko has good ideas this year, now Hilary you write more about these and do larger print and larger photos.
We need to have a magnify glass to read you sometimes.

Nice, very nice. I'll be giving these to many younger friends.
At my age one doesn't need new ornaments.

ps Hilary do you know how Roxie and Ram are? When we don't hear from regulars I worry about their health.

These will be perfect for J.N., the State Farm agent, who wrote in an earlier post that he was looking for BLENKO to buy for his clients.

These remind me of the zodiac rounds which were much LARGER and heavier. These ornaments will look beautiful with white lights twinkling behind them.

It appears that someone at the factory IS listening.

Thanks for sharing Hillary.

(regarding dr. bob's post under Jarfly Richmond)

Dr. Bob:

I hope you don't think I am implying that the Milton blog about BLENKO and the Blenkos is mean spirited! I, too, found it informative. Your likening the blog chat to the ones heard in all small communities is great. Reading the blog seems as if you are eavesdropping on a conversation at Tudor's Biscuit World in Milton!

The artist that handpainted our ornament and also handpaints on other glass available for sale in the Visitor Center is Wendy Lemley. She is from Fairview WV. I do not know if she is any relation to Don Lemley, the Antique Dept. manager. She was referred to us by the daughters of Charlie Gibson, owner of Gibson Glass. She is extremely talented and pretty much can paint any idea that you come up with.

I recently read your Blog on The Blenko Glass Fish.
I have been on a Mission to purchase a Vintage Amethyst Blenko Fish, and If anyone has one for sale, I will be Forever Greatful. I loved the Blog, and will be reading Heart of Glass regularly.
Thank You,
Gabriella K.
