Heart of Glass - Blenko Glass

Blenko Glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans generations. Nothing symbolizes the state of West Virginia better or more beautifully than Blenko Glass. We will discuss current and former craftsmen and designers and how important it is that Blenko and West Virginia glass be appreciated and valued by the younger generation.

November 28-30 BLENKO HOLIDAY SALE

This is going to be the BIGGEST - BEST - Sale ever at BLENKO! Retired Workers will be returning - we don't have the names but we'll get back to you with the list.

Shopping is important - and I recommend BLENKO for shopping! But on Friday bring the children, the grandchildren and your video cameras as you'll want to record the 'Retired Master Craftsmen'. Actually most any day you can watch glass being made at BLENKO; you are watching Master Craftsmen. The men who work at Blenko take pride in their ability to make glass. The last few months have been filled with new hope and anticipation of New Life and creativity. The men want very much to have Blenko Glass survive this horrible economic time. You can do your part by purchasing West Virginia handcrafted Glass for gifts, by telling your neighbors and co-workers about the glass and the glass makers and encouraging everyone to visit - The Glass will Sell itself . . . is my belief . If we can have the people see the glass being made, teach them to distinguish between mass made and handcrafted quality made, then Blenko will excell!

The schedule can be found at http://www.blenkoglass.com/ or phone 304 743 9081 if you have questions.

*** Mr. WH Blenko is over 80, his role for the past 30 years has been administrative , he

signs glass infrequently.

**** Mr. Walter Blenko , Mr. Walter recently took on major responsibilities at Blenko, this will be one of the first public signings for Mr. Walter. I plan to be there with my PINK ICE new purchase in line for Mr. Walter and Mr. Bill's signatures.

Note: When you have the opportunity to have your glass signed, take it! The line may be long, but the signature removes all future doubt about the origin of your glass.

Do this one again later in the week to remind people.
We will be there, and I have this on the office wall so my patients can view.

I'm not bothered by no comments, the newspaper tells me we are one of the most popular blogs and the hits remain high. With Holidays and stress and my new 'no negatives' the comments may go down.
I agree with SweetDoc, Thank you for uour comments and your addition to the blog.

For 09 I will plan to do Blenko the People frquently, problem is interviewing the people - the work schedule is demanding at Blenko. These men do physical labor 8-10 hours daily. Being interviewed isn't a goal for them. Producing quality glass for you is their #1 goal.
